Re: A3000 crackling (right) speaker

Recapping a PSU for an Issue A A3000 is relatively straightforward, and I think well worth the effort, given the heat those ballast capacitors have endured next to heatsinks, not to mention the deleterious effect of decades of non-use on electrolytics. If you like I can post a short list of the ite...

Re: A3000 crackling (right) speaker

Has the recapping also solved the screen dimming issue you were having? If so, was that solved by the power supply recap or the motherboard recapping?

That's quite tempting. It says new old stock though.
Actually, that's not quite what it says. The description reads "A new unused 22W power supply unit originally designed for the Acorn A3000."

Would you happen to have one more spare? The post is broken on the 5 key of my Issue 4 atom.

Another great ABUG! I had a fantastic time, which I divided between chatting, snacking, working on my project and Alien Syndrome, in equal measure. A big thanks to the Museum and the organisers of the event.

There are people currently experimenting without peroxide just using sunlight. The process is slower but they are getting results.
You can see some of those results further up the thread. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=17131#p237217

I've been trying to Lightbright (just leave it in the sunshine without chemicals) my riscpc keyboard in the Dutch sun over the last couple of days. There does seem to be a slight improvement.

Re: RISC OS eXperience may 2019 ( The Netherlands)

Oddly enough the ARM native mode doesn't seem much faster than the 269Mhz 6502 processor when running BASIC programs. Maybe this is because the programs I tried were doing a lot of floating point calculations. The bottleneck seems to have been the large amounts of graphics commands, GCOL and PLOT 6...

If you want to bring your Electron to the TechSat I can also arrange a monitor or TV with scart for you. You have some nice goodies to show (besides the MGC that I already have).

I've prepared a few nice demos (mandelbrot and mexican hat), which I can show running on the standard electron, in turbo mode, on a 3Mhz 6502 second processor and on a 250Mhz 6502 second processor. I'd also like to get them running on the ARM n...

I'll be travelling by public transport so won't be able to bring any of my RISC OS machines, which are all a little large. I do have a rather nice electron that I could bring. However, I won't be able to bring a display, so this would only be worthwhile if there was a monitor available.
