Re: Simultaneous internet & mass storage solutions for the A3010

the nodemcu esp8266 lolin board coupled with one of those little max232 boards to do the level shifting comes in at under a tenner. There's gpl'd firmware out for it Now that sounds like a nice idea :D - especially as the WiFi232 things appear to be not generally available... This makes me wonder h...

Re: Archimedes Iomega ZIP drivers

Where can I download uniboot ? Does it contain FTPc ? You can use DOS floppies to get uniboot onto your Zip disc using your A3010. Just follow the step by step instructions here: http://www.snowstone.org.uk/riscos/documents/newold.html FTPc isn’t part of uniboot, but uniboot contains everything you...

Re: Simultaneous internet & mass storage solutions for the A3010

did you manage to get full networking through the adaptor? I'd be interested in hearing more about how you managed this. :) Well, it was a while ago now, and I should revisit this again, but at the time I just used Hearsay2, or was it Connector?, to telnet into the Acorn Arcade BBS - I recall being...

Ok, I’ve got this to work! :D I somehow couldn't resist  Anyhow, following sirbod’s instructions, and taking a peek in the !Run file within the !Zip app led me to writing the following !Boot command file for the ADFS floppy: 59C45BE9-E3EF-4BA5-9792-210FE5016AD5.jpeg Obviously, you need to confi...

Simultaneous internet & mass storage solutions for the A3010

@number-one - your efforts to get both network connectivity and mass storage sorted for your A3010 reminded me of something I tried a while back to solve the same problem. I thought this was an interesting topic and deserved its own thread. If the overall goal is to have simultaneous mass storage an...

Re: Archimedes Iomega ZIP drivers

I just tried the method I suggested above, and though the machine went through the motions, it didn’t actually run the !Boot app from the Zip disc, though I didn’t get any error messages, and I can’t really see why it didn’t work. I ended up on the desktop, with a greyed out Zip drive icon. The meth...

Re: Archimedes Iomega ZIP drivers

OK, what are the commands to reboot on ZIP ? Once you’ve loaded the Zip driver from floppy, try the following: *conf. filesystem izipfs *conf. boot you’ll need to set the Zip disc to be bootable: *izipfs *opt 4,2 then try a shift-break and see what happens! (of course, remember to have the !Boot ap...

Re: myelin’s Econet Hub

I'd be interested in buying a new board  I’d like to build a couple of these hubs, and add some casing to provide protection and longevity - I’m thinking that one easy solution would be to wire up panel mount DIN sockets rather than using pcb mounted sockets (just like in the Acorn Econet ...

If I were wanting to control a solenoid using an arduino, I’d use a MOSFET transistor, or a TIP20 darlington pair, rather than a relay - here’s a nice step by step guide: https://www.bc-robotics.com/tutorials/c ... h-arduino/

So, further investigation shows that the Econet resources were apparently removed from the RO 4.39 Messages module, hence the error on trying to load the Econet module on that version of RO. It therefore looks as though a new version of the Messages module would be required to get Econet running on ...

Thanks Mark! But beauty of this pcb is superficial - the pcb is flawed (IanS has given me some pointers to improve it - thanks Ian!), and I'll make a revised version in due course. If you’re after a more robust eraser, then these old RS 424-254 units come up on a popular auction site quite often - prices vary, but if you bide your time then you should be able to pick one up for a good price - I bought a rather battered example a little while ago for about £20, and I’ve been ve...
