Re: Hello from Spectrum 4Ever

 Wow a Spectrum guy. I love most 8bit systems nowadays. Back then I was Acorn all the way. We were lucky to have many BBCs in our School Computer Dept. I got an Electron as I couldn't afford a Beeb. As Tricky says I was jealous of the amount of software on Spec and Commodore. Actually the BBC...

They came on the DVD of the Electron World website, you can buy the DVD still. Some still didn't work on my GoSDC. But quite a lot did. :D

I don't think so. They all come in .ssd format but the 'disks' almost always have start menus etc. on them.

Re: electron games on ssd

I have about 190+ Electron games that run from .ssd files via my GoSDC adaptor. There's a fair few that just don't work. I'm guessing because of Memory being used by the GoSDC virtual rom. Notable ones that don't work are things like Ravenskull, Elixir, Barbarian, Superman and Imogen there are quite...

Re: New releases not mentioned in Retrogamer?

Talking of Retro Gamer, I have binned my subscription now, there's only so many Mario, Sega, Nintendo and beat-em-up game articles I need to read. 8 bit coverage is dropping and way too much X Box, Gamecube stuff now. BBC has got no chance ! Yeah I think a lot of these Retro publications should try...

Re: A new version of Phoenix for the BBC

That looks fantastic. I'm sure I've seen a video where the scrolling corruption doesn't occur, so is that something that happened since? But it all looks pretty much done. You have all the main stages. Surely a bit of bug fixing and a title screen and you're done?! I'm sure there's more to it...

Still I bet it's more faithful than pretty much any of the other home computer versions. ;-) I'd finish it off as is and call it a victory. Then we can all play it to death.

Re: Arcade Tennis (Electron)

JMS2 - You're right the system I'm using is way too slow. I should blit it to the screen as a full combined sprite. That would be the best solution. A 4 pixel X movement is not bad actually, as I probably want that 'speed' for the character to move, so the player feels like he's running around the s...

Resurrecting this thread... :D I'll add the likes of.... Mouse Trap - Nails game to play, but some lovely sprites. Elite - Naturally has to be up there. Repton 2 - I found that to have the best consistent style of graphics for those games. Spycat - Great looking game colourful and detailed. Joe Blad...

Your work is astounding Tricky. I think if you're stuck for a game to make, if its an arcade port you're after how about a proper Gauntlet port!! :D or maybe Time Pilot (always loved that game). As for other games how about a nice original game.... a graphic adventure game in the visual styl...

Arcade Tennis (Electron)

Hi fellow Acorns. :) I'm a very amateur programmer on the Elk. I'm an artist by trade, so I can make stuff look nice, but coding I'm ok in the BASIC realm but the Assembler stuff, just never sinks in. :( Anyhoo. I've been doing a little Tennis game, sort of PONG crossed with a bit of normal Tennis. ...

Hi fellow Acorns...

Hi, my name is John and I've been a fan of Acorn since my first Acorn Electron bought for me by my parents, bless em' it must have put them in hock for years. £199 back in 198x was a huge amount of money, but well spent. I'm now a 3D Graphics artist in the games industry, so I have thank Acorn and th...
