What does the error 'Can't extend' mean?

"Can't Extend". Got it while trying write a sequential file to a virtual disk. But there error isn't mentioned in the Beeb manual.
Can someone let me know what it means.

Thanks.

Re: New Adventures?

The graphics are created in Photoshop on PC and then I use image2BBC to convert them to a BBC Screen dump. I then have a small BASIC program that I wrote to load them in (as they are fullscreen dumps) and then save them out as half a screen so they're only 5k then. :-)

Re: New Adventures?

Well I'm into the second part of The Darkness of Raven Wood. First part seems robust and bug free, I hope?!? [-o< So using the code from Pt.1 I'm ripping out all the references/code to part one and making sure the data lines up with Pt.2 versions. It seems to generally be working, here's a couple of...

Lol. No worries after what happened. I back up every session. One on a USB stick the other on my PC. They're all numbered so I can go back through them if necessary. :D

Re: New Adventures?

Just to let people know that The Darkness of Raven Wood has fitted into memory.... well the first part, part 2 loads in separately. But it fits and its the bigger of the two parts! :D Just a few polish tasks and some debugging and the first part is done, now to finish the second half which should go...

Re: New Adventures?

I'm happy at the way its going at the moment. I do think I've been ambitious with this project though. Maybe the next one can be in Mode 7 with Mode 7 graphics. Is there a decent Mode 7 graphics package? :-)

Re: New Adventures?

Well I'm hoping so Fuzzel. Had a few 'out of room' errors. Had to adjust the way it all works to free more memory. Still going though. Fingers crossed I haven't been too ambitious. Here's a cheeky and grisly end to one adventurer. No more spoilers though... http://i.imgur.com/gRnnBFs.p...

Ouch! Perforce is very good though. We use it at work. :-) A little extreme for a one man bedroom coder ;-) LOL Although just being focused and diligent should be enough. Multiple backups on HDD and USB Stick should be ok.

Re: New Adventures?

Well before the 'Bad Program' incident I did try it out on the Electron emulator and it worked fine  Dave. Someone has had a look at the file for me. Appears for whatever reason the Emulator decided to save the program from about 2/3 the way through!!!! Great. So there's only a third of it the...

Re: New Adventures?

Got the 'Slim Font' code in and working (Written by Robin Nixon for Electron User) :-) All looks rather good, although one thing that doesn't work is setting a Text Window as the Slim Font is only fooling the BBC/Electron into thinking it can display 40 characters. When using VDU statements it sort ...

Re: New Adventures?

I like the way you get a grey background in the tavern by blending cyan and red. You might want to take a look at how Clogger achieves some impressive shading using red, green and blue. I wrote a bit about this in an article about Clogger . Wow, yeah. Thats impressive. I love how the Red/Green comb...
