Re: Hello from Belgium, again....and Electron questions

Electron is cool. GOSDC is what I use. It's pretty good. Not compatible with some software. I found about 200 games (think, I might be remembering that wrong) are playable. Notable non-working games are things like Ravenskull, Barbarian, Imogen amoungst others. Most of the big ones do work though in...

Re: Development Suite/Engines

...Maybe to back up this set of tools there could be a generic engine, for creating platform games, or one for Shoot'em Ups or one for Maze/Puzzlers like Repton Infinity, but with a bit of scripting ability for games creators to use?... Not sure about noob friendly (well, I am sure it won't be :() ...

Yes I remember that. It was a collection of a series of Type ins and from articles in Electron User I believe. Might be worth trying to hunt it down.

Re: Development Suite/Engines

It would be nice to have some on Platform tools ... here's a mockup.. SPRITEGEN :-) http://i.imgur.com/vOkBW3G.png Even if they came with some simple Assembly Routines to push them to screen in a fast way. Maybe instead of a proper engine, we at least get some routines together and some tools that u...

Re: Development Suite/Engines

Yeah I wouldn't imagine it would be super fast or slick as a Tricky game  LOL But maybe good enough to be playable. In terms of an engine it would need planning for sure. Maybe some hard rules, x amount of K for Graphics, x amount of Variables, x amount of interactive objects, x amount of back...

Development Suite/Engines

There's so many talented guys here. Coders in particular. I was wondering has anyone thought about collecting together all the great tools and putting them together into a definitive Suite/Package. Whether they are BBC programs or External PC programs so that other people like myself who are hopeles...

http://i.imgur.com/Q5qHP1v.jpg Cylon Attack. Quite a lot of people don't seem to know of this game. It is excellent. This and Chuckie Egg are AnF's very best imo. Cylon Attack had great controls and felt like it had inertia and capping 2 enemies with one shot at you slide the gunsight past was an a...

What does the error 'Can't extend' mean?

"Can't Extend". Got it while trying write a sequential file to a virtual disk. But there error isn't mentioned in the Beeb manual.
Can someone let me know what it means.

Thanks.

Re: New Adventures?

The graphics are created in Photoshop on PC and then I use image2BBC to convert them to a BBC Screen dump. I then have a small BASIC program that I wrote to load them in (as they are fullscreen dumps) and then save them out as half a screen so they're only 5k then. :-)

Re: New Adventures?

Well I'm into the second part of The Darkness of Raven Wood. First part seems robust and bug free, I hope?!? [-o< So using the code from Pt.1 I'm ripping out all the references/code to part one and making sure the data lines up with Pt.2 versions. It seems to generally be working, here's a couple of...

I'm happy at the way its going at the moment. I do think I've been ambitious with this project though. Maybe the next one can be in Mode 7 with Mode 7 graphics. Is there a decent Mode 7 graphics package? :-)

Well I'm hoping so Fuzzel. Had a few 'out of room' errors. Had to adjust the way it all works to free more memory. Still going though. Fingers crossed I haven't been too ambitious. Here's a cheeky and grisly end to one adventurer. No more spoilers though... http://i.imgur.com/gRnnBFs.p...

Ouch! Perforce is very good though. We use it at work. :-) A little extreme for a one man bedroom coder ;-) LOL Although just being focused and diligent should be enough. Multiple backups on HDD and USB Stick should be ok.

Re: New Adventures?

Well before the 'Bad Program' incident I did try it out on the Electron emulator and it worked fine  Dave. Someone has had a look at the file for me.
