That's ace!
It sounds really familiar too, so I wonder if I must have enjoyed it bitd too.
Gets me all nostalgic, I had a ton of archie tracker files somewhere or other but can't seem to find em.
Thanks for sharing!

I've no idea how these emulators work really, but will your special hack work with emulated raster timings etc. so we can muck with the palette during frame render?

Re: Emulator support for VideoNuLA
Nice work Kieran! To be fair, I'd be happy enough with that for a kick starter, so even though we're missing a few bits of colour res with that hack, at least we'll know if the code we're writing is gonna work ok on the target hardware.

Another upvote for the BenQ 912 from here. I run my A3010 on this and t's perfect for it. 19" is grand.

Emulator support for VideoNuLA
Hello gang, Given RobC's fantastic work in bringing the enhanced ULA project to life, are there any bright sparks on here who might be able to update one of the various Beeb emulators to support/emulate this hardware mod? I'm chomping at the bit to make some cool stuff with it, but it'd be even awes...

What would have been nice would be to move NMI and sound workspace to lower memory. Its certainly a pain having to work around Page 8 and 13 as "no go" areas.

That would explain it! I wrote my own version of SRLOAD anyway, using disk sector reads and 256 byte page copies to the target SWR. MUCH faster!

Re: how to get rom in beebem ?
Thread resurrection! Is it just me or is *SRLOAD extraordinarily slow? I just tried loading a 16Kb file to SWR slot 4 using SRLOAD on a BBC Master 128 MOS 3.20 (B-Em), it took 10.59 seconds Then just a standard *LOAD FILE 8000 took 1.99 seconds. Same SRLOAD on MOS 3.50 took 2.37 seconds. Is this due...

Re: Shadow RAM double buffering questions
There is a typo in the Memory section of the AUG that has opposing descriptions of how to use one of the bits (can't remember which one off the top of my head) which is extra unhelpful but this works. It's the D part of the register (bit 0) AUG says "D=0 Use Shadow RAM for screen, D=1 Use main...

I'm also interested in this topic. I wrote an extension for using BeebAsm in Visual Studio Code, but I saw that VSC also supports a remote debugger architecture too, so getting a BeebAsm/B-Em compiler/debugger workflow all integrated in VSC would be very cool. https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/exte...

Re: Can I have my BBC in stereo?
There were several arcade machines with more than one SN76489 and their VGMs are around the web. Good point! I forgot about that. I found a few of these when we were porting VGMs to Beeb, but my conversion script barfed because they contained data for 2x SN chips. It kinda makes sense to have two, ...

Re: Can I have my BBC in stereo?
There's only one very basic PSG in the Beeb, which has no concept of stereo whatsoever. So at the very least, you'd need to macgyver an additional chip into the system somehow, which I would imagine is Quite Hard. Then you'd need some music that's authored for stereo (otherwise whats the point?) and...

Beeb 3D graphics shizzle
Hi all, A while ago, we were sent a disk image containing some pretty awesome 3D graphics routines for the Beeb which I think are possibly the fastest 3d realtime renderings I've seen, so we posted it up on our website as part of our Beeb demo museum. Thought it might be of interest to you folks too...

they turned over £1.3 million in '81 and £8 million in '82 but made only a slim profit. That is HUGE growth in one financial year! Many businesses would struggle to adapt well to 800% growth in 12 months so in all honesty, what they achieved as a business over a relatively short number of years was...

On a related note, Kieran and I have been working on a teletext demo lately (we're trying hard to finish it up!). Yes, a table makes perfect sense for this. Maybe even two - one lookup table for converting a colour index to left hand pixel data and one for converting a colour index to the right hand pixel data. Store your pre-calculated interleaved pixel data in the tables, and index into them with your colour ...

A thread popped up recently with a link to a website containing scanned Micro User covers, which led me to March 1985's issue, with the competition to win a "Unique Gold Customised BBC Micro". Obviously I dreamed of winning that at the time, but I'd often wondered about its whereabouts and...
