Re: 1MHz Bus Address Space - Teletext Adaptor

That is the correct range of addresses. The information I gave about the DataCentre comes from the DataCentre Manual . The information I gave about BeebSID came from the relevant section on the Retro Software site. I have had another look at JGH's site and I have now found a more detailed (and, I as...

I though so too. I could swear I looked at something like this a couple of months ago. But now I can't find it.

1MHz Bus Address Space - Teletext Adaptor

I am thinking about how to develop my OPL FM Synth Board further. One thing I need to do is to identify some 'safe' address space on the 1MHz Bus. I know that the 'official' address space for user applications is &FCC0 to &FCFE. However, I suspect that there are a whole range of add ons that have be...

Many thanks everyone for another awesome weekend. I must express particular thanks to hoglet for all his considerable patience and expertise. First in diagnosing the fault with my 1MHz bus and secondly, and very significantly, getting my OPL2 FM Synth project working \:D/. If anyone is interested in...

Ooh please post a link to where you got these. My understanding is that many USB floppy drives struggle to format in a way that is readable by Arcs. So it would nice to see details of one that appears to be reliable.

Re: Android emulator for Windows

I have Parallels Desktop for my Mac, mainly so that I can run a handful of windows only apps. Parallels includes an Android install as part of it's default features. Parallels is, of course, by no means free. But it is a paradigm of user friendliness and generally well written code. In any event, gi...

Re: SCART TV woes

Thanks for all the advice so far. I have played around with it a bit more today. It does seem rather random, but becomes more obvious when switching between mode 7 and one of the other modes. Also, it seems to be a problem if I turn the Beeb on whilst the TV is on. If I turn the Beeb on first and th...

Re: Choice of isotropic alcohol by our experts

I use 99.9% IPA for cleaning boards. AFAIK it is not toxic to skin. When I was in medical practice, I (like every other doctor and nurse around the world) used it to swab the skin of every patient who had a blood test, injection or other medical procedure. I never saw or heard of a skin reaction. Th...

It does have a composite input and I happen to have a BNC to phone lead. At the moment, the composite connector on the Beeb is disconnected, so I will have to resolder that to try it out. But I spent the money on the new screen in order to get the best possible picture. I assume that RGB is better t...

I know that submitting this post will be the kiss of death, but...

I shall leave it 'soak test' for a bit.

SCART TV woes

I bought myself one of these to use with my Beeb. The picture is great per se . However, the screen keeps jumping a few scan lines when connected to the Beeb. This is usually up and then down, but occasionally side-to-side. The effect is completely random both in respect of when it happens and in te...

I have one you can use. I have never used it so can't say if it works or not, no reason it shouldn't work though. Would that be even more disappointing? Then we would be in the realms of it just not working for a considerable number of possible (but ultimately unascertainable) reasons including, bu...

Does anyone have a 1MHz bus cable they could lend me for the duration? Re: DC power connector help

Thank's for the suggestions. Drilling a recess on the inside would be the neatest solution. However, I am working with an existing box and there is no way I can angle a drill from the inside to drill out. I have, however, found a brass disc (that matches some of the other hardware I am using) that I...

DC power connector help

I am building a project (Nixie clock) in a wooden box (for aesthetic reasons). It will be supplied by an external 5V regulated DC power supply. The original plan was to use a 2.1mm socket to connect to the power supply. Unfortunately, the walls of the box are 14mm thick and no panel socket I can fin...
