BBC PSU low -5v supply

I am plodding on with refurbishing my Model B. I have been working on the PSU. I have replaced C1, C2 and C9 although they hadn't failed yet. I also found, when testing it, I was getting a low reading on the -5v supply (about -3.45v). I have replaced C18, C21 and D8, but that hasn't remedied the pro...

OK. It seems that empty boxes are genuinely a thing, even in the Acorn world.

Re: LOLPRICE

In so many ways, Acorn computers were (and still are) better than those made across the pond by Apple. However, I'm afraid they really do outdo us on LOLPRICE. In support of my argument I enter into evidence the following: Exhibit 1: the empty cardboard box: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271997424314 Exhi...

Beeb speaker specification

Apologies for the n00b question, but does anyone know the specs (in terms of ohms and watts) for the speaker inside a standard Beeb? Also, are there any particular bear traps in terms of replacing it. I note there is a strange metal 'wire' coming away from the keyboard housing that appears to 'touch...

Re: How many sold? German tank problem:serial nums wtd

Here is my serial number: 01-ANB01-3052768

It is for an issue 7 regular Model B. So it belongs to a category where you probably have sufficient data. But I provide it nonetheless.

If you are still taking names for a possible second run, please could you put my name down for a Model B.

Many thanks.

so read the item about EEPROM on this forum   , it will take you a few moments  make that first ? Yeah, I had seen that. I have decided I definitely need to come. :) So please can my name be moved from 'Tentative' to 'Confirmed'. I will be there on the Friday evening (please can you put me down for the curry too). I will probably need to leave at about midday on the Sunday. I would also be grateful if someone could PM...

Got it! Thanks so much to everyone for all the pointers :D I now have one of the 99p breakout boards on order from Hong Kong. I have also ordered a 99p EEPROM from China. Those prices are ridiculous - that's less than an international postage stamp :o. (BTW, there's a slightly eccentric YouTube chan...

That's all really helpful and very interesting. I am definitely going to give this a try. You can find it here . The ...

I really wish you guys hadn't suggested making an SD card reader. Re: LOL DESCRIPTION

I suspect it is a Prestel terminal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prestel). Viewdata (see label on the back) was the generic name and Prestel was the GPO/BT branded version.Given the 'green dot' label on the back, it was clearly 'approved' for use on BT networks. It doesn't look like it was designed...

Well I have just bought this. Probably paid too much for it. (I think I paid more for it than I sold my whole kit for in 1984 when I went to Uni!) But excited to get to play around with it and relive my misspent youth nonetheless.

Technomatic

Just discovered this forum recently. So thought I'd say hi and explain a little bit about myself. My first experience with computers was at school in about 1980 when it acquired a RM 380Z and I (and two others) formed and joined the computer club. It was a huge machine running a Zilog Z80. It ran CP...
