Re: ABUG SOUTH 18 to 20 January 2019 (Hampshire) BOOKING THREAD

Two important updates. First, the hotel has confirmed that they have 'about' 22 tables which are 6ft by 2.5ft and 7 round tables which are 6ft in diameter. That means we would, in theory, have enough tables to allocate one per attendee. However, I recall from last time that the round tables were rat...

Some more storage boxes to tidy up the various bits of kit in the spare room. Because, apparently, 'guests' might want to 'sleep' in there. :-x

Re: ABUG SOUTH 18 to 20 January 2019 (Hampshire) BOOKING THREAD

It's that time when payment is now due. Just £15 covers the room hire for the weekend and as much tea, coffee, fizzy pop and unhealthy snacks as you can consume. This time, I am trying a slightly different form of payment system. Please click here to pay. If you use a UK debit card to pay, you will ...

Re: BeebSID

There's absolutely no reason why it wouldn't work with the Electron. The BeebSID (like all devices on the 1MHz Bus) requires external power so a 12V device would work just as well on the Electron as it does on the Beeb. The AP5 also has a 6522 on board - so any software that requires the 6522 timer ...

Further, when I removed the speech synthesiser (still removed) using a proper chip puller (just in case you thought I might be the sort of vandal who'd use a screwdriver!), one the pins snapped off. If I can get this beeb going again I'll be replacing that part! Please, please, please tell me it wa...

What time does this start on the 18th? I can’t do the Saturday and Sunday - but I could do the Friday. And will anyone be attending who might be able to help me diagnose a poorly beeb? We start whenever we can get access to the room/people start to show up. This is usually about 3pm/4pm. Sometimes ...

I have a couple of the fold up plastic ones I could probably fit in the van.
Thanks. That may well be of assistance if you can bring them. I am planning to liaise with the venue regarding tables closer to the time and I'll let you know.

Re: ABUG SOUTH 18 to 20 January 2019 (Hampshire) BOOKING THREAD

I'm guessing the default is a half-table, and people with serious amounts of kit will want a full table? The room is very big and last time it was one of the least cramped sessions we have had. The limiting factor is the number of tables they have on-site. If anyone has some tables they could bring...

My apologies I forgot to add 'with kit'. master, screen laptop, etc. Thanks At this stage, I am not overly concerned with the amount of kit people are bringing. This might, however, become an issue if we have more than 30 people wishing to attend. So do please continue to give some indication of wh...

I'd love to come but won't know if it's possible until much nearer the time so stick me down as number 30 and knock me off if you need the space.
I've put you down as tentative. I doubt there will be a problem accommodating you and it would be really good to see you there.

Because of this, I will not accept any bookings ma...

I did get told off by one guy who told me to stop messing about with that old stuff and move on to RISCOS. @Balmoral James, In answer to your questions: 1. On the years that I have been, towards the middle of the day it gets fairly busy - but not unpleasantly so. 2. The show, as its name suggests, is very much RISC focussed. There will be a few people from the 8-bit side of the forum there. But they are ...

Re: What are people happy soldering ?

Perhaps we should save up for an ABUG flow oven. I have finally invested in a reflow oven. It's the (infamous) T962A which is very well known and sold by a variety of Chinese vendors on eBay and AliExpress. It has a number of significant problems and is not recommended in it's unmodified form. Ther...
