I'm very curious to learn from your experience having the boards assembled.

Re: ICE T65/Z80/6809

There was a discussion going on in one of the FB groups about this as well (maybe the same people :-) ). What I understand is that : /RFRSH is not tri-stated but also "not functional" when an external device is taking over the bus by a /BUSREQ signal. The Z80 datasheet I saw was referring to (long) ...

Re: ICE T65/Z80/6809

Thanks Dave,

With some (script) tweaking I was able to generate the new files myself now and with a Windows batch file generate the PROM file (instead of the shell script).

Re: ICE T65/Z80/6809

More some general github questions. If they pollute this thread too much I can move it (or open a seperate one). I'm working on a Windows (10) environment. How can I keep up with Dave's latest developements ? Is that just a matter of running : git clone https://github.com/hoglet67/AtomBusMon.git ? A...

Re: ICE T65/Z80/6809

Single stepping using the ICE, or single stepping using the MPF monitor?
It would't surprise me if there is still an issue with the ICE single stepping on the MPF, because of the MPF's use of NMI and M1 cycle counting.
Single stepping on the MPF-1B.
Let me play with the other system first.

Re: ICE T65/Z80/6809

Today I finished my board for the Z80, the core that has been loaded is the multi-CPU version. For now I only did the basic testing : 1. Put in an MPF1-B, that boots fine. Did some single stepping but that ran into an SYS-SP error, that might be me though, as it was 35 years ago I used a MPF1-B 2. P...

Re: Yarrb - redesigned

Just a thought, if you are going to have it assembled (at least the SMD parts) , wouldnt be a small FPGA more flexible ?
Having that said realizing that level shifting would be the next issue.

Any other ideas where to get a eurocard frame welcomed!
In Holland they regularly appear on "Marktplaats" , a Dutch sort of eBay or one of the "Radio flea markets" that are there.

Re: ICE T65/Z80/6809

Hi Dave,

Does this mean that in a system with static RAM it is (more) stable ?
In that case I can build the adapter and test it in my MPF-1B.

And... we have a lift-off :-) The 6502 board works nice in an MPS-65 as well as in my Atom : http://retro.hansotten.nl/6502-sbc/msp-65-2-thaler/ On my board I did not fit the 3 single-signal level shifters , main reason, I did not have them  Second reason , I never have used the trigger option...

Some time ago I made an Acorn Atom parts-list including "Shopping list".
It also makes a distinction between a "Basic Atom" and an extended one.

Re: Replica Atom

Personally, staying as close to the original as you can get I would change (IC24) from a 2532 to a 2732 , IC 21 as well and for IC20 I would go for a 2764.

//Edit I would suggest targetting 27(C)64 and 27(C)32 devices.
Dave was typing faster than I was :-)

Looked like an angled header without ejectors.
I would solder the original connector in and fix the damages traces with Kynar wire.

Re: 3D print Acorn Atom case

a Laser Cut Acrylic case for the Atom?
Would be interested in that more than a 3D printed case, especially with a new keyboard.
Though Cherry switches and custom made key-caps might be still in the price range of a 2nd handed Rev.5 Atom.

Re: Replica Atom

Initially am only going to order 5 boards; really just to see if they work I really would take Dave's (Hoglet) advice into consideration. I do understand you can use ROM's from another Atom but other beta testers (if you want them) would have a hard time getting the chips sourced. That would be a p...

Re: Atom Video to HDMI Adapter

So I think plan B is to create a to-scale template from the pcb file and use that. Just checking no one created that before I start messing about in kicad.
Doesnt require much messing. Printing the Kicad Design is pretty well to scale on a laser or inkjet printer.

Hopefully by the next one I will have the FPGA doing something more impressive than counting in a seven segment display. Looking into the FPGA magic as...

Actually not sure how original you want to keep them but I would go for precision sockets everywhere.
