Re: Acorn 6502 revival

Hi Mark,

Understood that but as it wasn't final yet it was just a teaser.
Final version of the CPU board here.
I will put it on my website as well and make a reference to it as a Kicad design.

Re: Acorn System CPU board question

Hi Trevor, @1, Yes did that in my early days as well, even with EPROMS to "confuse" others :wink: . @2, I doubt if a 2708 ever has been an option as that requires 3 supply rails, +5V, +12V and -5V. So guess the 2516 or 2716 is the minimum. In that case I keep pin A10 connected to A10 and remove it f...

Re: Acorn System CPU board question

As you might have noticed are Andy and I each in his own CAD program trying to revive the Acorn System 1 schematic. Looking at the original I have a few questions / doubts I hope someone in the community can help me with. 1. Not really a question but something that got me is how Acorn wired the RAM ...

Acorn System CPU board question

I'm a bit confused.
The Acorn System 2 , 6502 CPU board. Is that the same as the System 1 basic CPU board without the Key/Display board on top but with a separate VDU (teletext) board ?

Re: Acorn 6502 revival

This is actually my goal : If it's about re-creating the functionality for interfacing to another vintage component for example, then building a modern equivalent would make sense to me. In fact the same is true of interfacing to that System with modern storage or I/O etc. So I might copy the functi...

Acorn 6502 revival

Looking for some ideas. As I have the idea reviving an Acorn Eurocard 6502 system, and looking at the system 1 or maybe even the Atom what would be nice/wise? I know I can grab a FPGA an fit a whole system in but that is not my goal. On the other hand, a system 1 has components that are really becom...

Re: Acorn System 1 TinyCAD and VeeCAD

Using Kicad regurarey myself, so if you need any help. What was the basic (original) schematic you worked from ? Came from the SmArtwork, Orcad/Ultiboard, Layo, Protel99, Altium, Kicad route myself. Never got used to Eagle, for me the most non-intuitive program there is. Altium is still the holy gra...

What are you trying to find out about it?
Try to reverse engineer it.

Looking for a 6502 disassembler for reverse engineering

Helping someone to reverse engineer a 6502 SBC. It has a 6052 processor, a 2K EPROM from F800-FFF, and a 2K Ram and 6522 "somewhere in the memory map". The memory decoding prom (82S129) is still to be read. Any suggestion of a disassembler/emulator ?. I have the monitor in .HEX and .BIN format. For ...

Re: Logic Levels for 5V TTL Systems

@Flynnjs,

Think I nailed it, put an extra (10uF Tantalium) capacitor on the power line and a 1K resistor in series with the clock signal. Its running now already for more than 15 hours without freezing.

Final bit, some text to recognize the direction. Some cover to avoid "bits falling in" where the connector pins are still (sort of) accessible.

Net step, a similar Z80 version and Dave "Hoglet"'s level shifter board to get this to work with the "EE_Pizza" board as well.

Thanks for all your help and patience Dave, next stage EE-Pizza and real level shifters.

Tried a X250 version (original DIL socket Godil, with 250 Image) same result.
"Reset" command gives the same with the 250 and 500 version :

Trying to get a Godil powered Atom alive

Tonight I tried to get my "Godil powered" Atom alive (with Dave Hoglet's T65) unfortunately it doesnt work (yet). Hope that with help of some people here I can get it alive so that I can use the T65 for a stubborn Junior Computer (Elektor) as well. My starting point is a "bare minimum Atom" which ru...

@Hoglet, Kees,

Will test it on my "minimum Atom" later this week. Still need to flash the right image in it, its a 500K Version.

Need to check which one that is on Github <hint> :wink:

Re: Today I built ...

Today I built a Godil adapter. Having a "stubborn" 6502 and a Z80 machine "under construction" I was heavily interested in Dave/Hoglet's ICE-Txx. Unfortunately the original Godil is not available anymore but the 2x50IDC connector version is : https://shop.trenz-electronic.de/en/TE0262-00B-GODIL50-XC...

What brand/type of FPGA

As I would like to become more familiar with FPGA’s (I see Dave "Hoglet" doing magic with these on multiple projects) and learn im looking into a small development board with FPGA, some Sdram, displays ( can be 7 segment) a bunch of buttons and leds, what FPGA ( family ) would be ok to choose ?
