Re: Dead MDFS Resurrection

Hi Danielj Attached is the MDFS schematic I created. Its the original first draft so its not 100% accurate but should hopefully help a lot. The PAL from what I can see is used mainly for the transmission of econet packets. It enables the SN75159 for transmission. Tha PAL has 5 inputs and 2 outputs b...

Re: Dead MDFS Resurrection

Hi Danielj, I've created a schematic for the MDFS it's not the tidiest as I haven't got around to redoing it. But should hopefully help you sort your MDFS out. I'm currently in the process of building a MDFS from the schematics I've created. I'm at work at the moment, but will post up the schematic ...

Re: SCSI2SD BBC + Host adapter

Thanks Danielj that was what was wrong. Sometimes one needs to be told how to suck eggs. :-)

It did cross my mind but for some reason I thought the IDE may have been an added enhancement of ADFS and not a replacement of the SCSI code.

All working now.

SCSI2SD BBC + Host adapter

Hi Everyone,

Was after some advice on how to get the SCSI2SD board working with a BBC with a host adapter. What have others done to get this to work. Mine just hangs on my BBC Master.

Thanks, Scott.

Re: Micro SD SCSI interface for MDFS File Server

If you "save to file" within the SCSI2SD util it will generate a XML configuration file. Within it you can customise the drive geometry further eg. Heads, Sectors per track, (example attached). You can then load the XML file back in with SCSI2SD Util and save it to the board. I've managed to initial...

Acorn Filestore utility software

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to track down the maintenance/utility software for the Acorn Filestore E01S. In particular I'm after the hard drive formatting programs. I believe there called "FServeInit" and "FServFmt". Do disk images exist of these? Can someone help?

Thank you, Scott.

ECONET via Synchronous RS232

Hi, If you could get your hands on a PC serial port that supported Synchronous serial data, in theory would it be possible to get it communicating with Econet? The econet clock would connected to the Receiver and Transmitter clock pins (RxCA, TxCA). Similar to the MDFS which uses the Z80-SIO IC. Wou...

Re: Micro SD SCSI interface for MDFS File Server

Hi Paul, No, I'm in Melbourne, Australia. I've bought items from the UK (Model B's for example) and they take roughly 10 days to get here. All depends on how much you want to pay. The more you pay the quicker it arrives generally. :-) I assume the reverse will be true with sending something from Aus...

Micro SD SCSI interface for MDFS File Server

Hi All, Just wanted to share that I purchased one of these Micro SD card to SCSI interfaces and connected to my MDFS. Its worked out of the box, no configuration of the interface via USB was required. It will work with other SCSI devices on the bus, as it should, as long as there are no ID conflicts...

I believe there is a manual called "Econet level 3 file server Manager's Guide" however I can't seem to find a scanned in copy of it. Does anyone know of its existence and if its available?

Master Compact key caps

Hi All,

Would anyone have some Master Compact key caps for sale?

I'm after Escape, F3, Break and UP arrow.

Mark from Retroclinic was able to assist with a few keys but he didn't have spare of these, I've also tried CJE.

Appreciate any assistance.

Scott.

Re: ECONET module problem 0194,005 surface mount

IanB Thank you so much for your help. I had another look at my terminators and you were right. I had the resistors back to front. I could see why too, it looks like the male jacks I'm using are numbered incorrectly as pins 1 & 4 are the clock and pins 3 & 5 are the data lines as labelled on the jack...

When I connect the terminators I get a reading of 4volts on bot...

Re: ECONET module problem 0194,005 surface mount

Thanks for your reply Paulv. The seller has suggested that it sounds like a capacitance issue as the probe will add a bit of capacitance and delay. He suggested modifying the clock speed to be faster or slower to see what affect it may have. I disconnected everything from my network and just had MAS...

ECONET module problem 0194,005 surface mount

Hi All, I recently purchased a ECONET module for my A3020 (0194,005 surface mount version). When I install it I get a Line Jammed error. If I swap it with the econet module from my Master (0259,200 NOT the surface mount version), the A3020 can logon to my network and work fine. If I insert the new m...
