If there are any kind, willing individuals available, I'd appreciate a copy of the software and manuals for the Valiant Computer Interface (CH32466).
Actually, I'm after that too, so I'll ask if I can do that when I'm doing the tapes. Guess that means I'll need a beeb as well..

Re: Cambridge Sept 2019 archiving thread

I'd be happy to help with tape archive or scanning if needed? I can do it in between showing bbc tv stuff?

I have a scanner or two I can bring.

Re tape archive, what's the "usual practice" for this?

Re: BBC Master Compact... Some may wonder why Acorn did this strange thing...

Pack what into the keyboard housing? There's only a keyboard in the keyboard housing of my Master Compact. Ate you sure? I thought only the PSU and disk drive is in the base. I was going to get mine down, but ran out of time so Googled it instead... http://chrisacorns.computinghistory.org.uk/Comput...

BBC Master Compact... Some may wonder why Acorn did this strange thing...

Ok, enough of the clickbate title  Im sure it's been documented, but its been bothering me this evening. Given all the space, airflow and convention of housing a motherboard in the 'base unit', why did Acorn choose to pack it into the keyboard housing? I wondered if it were a way to create an '...

Don’t worry about the time on the museum web site. ABug members can still get in after 4pm.

And there we have a nice fully educated view on the situation. Although I'm still confident the benq is likely to work. Good advice through! Cheers, Pa...

Re: RGB Scart adaptor for BenQ monitors

Ah, well if the monitor will sync, then that looks like it would probably do the job then, assuming the correct sync's are passed through, I can't see why it wouldn't. It might be advantageous to modify the design of the board to take multiple inputs via a switching system - I'm thinking a socket fo...

Re: RGB Scart adaptor for BenQ monitors

I'm not sure hugely what the benefit of the scart to VGA connector is, other than it passes through selected signals? I'd just make a cable for each bit of kit? Those budget TVs with scart connectors work fine with old Archies if you channel an additional +5v (or so) line from the psu or motherboard...

Re: Unopened 1997 RiscPC - chances of magic smoke?

Hi. So things to look for are bulges at the top of the capacitors. I was given some advice re dealing with vintage kit (perhaps others can chime in if you think its nonsense or correct). When powering on for the first time in a long while, leave the item on for a good while so the electrolytics refo...

Hi.

Since there are still a couple of full tables spare, could I upgrade from a half table? Happy to go back if someone wants it, but I could use the space for the kit if available, and i waited to see if it was snapped up before asking..

Cheers, Paul.

You're missing the copies of Yellow Pages underneath the Cub monitor. :)

However the last ones they made were so thin, i'd do better with fewer copies of the last issues of Acorn Computing  You wouldn't get a kiss off a tall girl with one the 2017 issue!

Hey all, I thought I'd share this with anyone interested... We were producing a Centenary corporate video featuring content and props from each decade of the last 100 years, so I was able to put a few items from my retro collection to good purpose... A BBC Micro for 1982 and an A3000 for 1994. Whils...

just remembered one tiny detail in the Castle license that many seem to have forgotten: there was an "ARM only" clause inside IIRC. That is now gone.
