GNU Toolchain for A30x0 recommendation

I have a couple of C++ projects that I would like to port over to the Arc and wondered what tools people used nowadays for this? I have installed Acorn C++ on my A3020, but frankly it is too much of a a pain dealing with the various issues and limitations of developing and compiling natively. Ideall...

I should also add that under certain circumstances it is possible for a poster using TapaTalk to reply to a thread after it is locked. As you can see from my quoted posts, the TapaTalk extension breaks some fundamental phpBB API rules. Not least that the enable/disable switch in the Extensions manag...

Reading Source code from Windows/Unix/Linux

Hi, I have been given some C code for a project I'm looking to port to the Acorn using Acorn C/C++ V5. I copied the source over and attempted to open one of the files in the source editor and found all the tabs replaced by [09] which is the ASCII code for tab. I have set the filetype to Text, but st...

File Transfer options

I was wondering what people tend to use for bulk transferring data to their Arcs? For Atari, I use this: http://joy.sophics.cz/parcp/parcp-usb.html I have sent the developer an email asking if he would consider porting the slave application to RiscOS 3, but even if he agrees, there's no knowing how ...

Re: HCCS Ultimate Expansion IDE Produle failure

!Boot is not being read from the Hard Disk. Is there something I need to set in order for the A3010 to know the Hard Disk is the boot/system default drive?

Re: HCCS Ultimate Expansion IDE Produle failure

Ha - I hadn't noticed the context menu for the IDEMgr - it's been 20 years since I used an Acorn at school. I feel like such a noob.

Now my drive is partitioned and working!

Thanks for your help and putting up with my ramblings!

Re: HCCS Ultimate Expansion IDE Produle failure

Yes I forgot - see above post where I remembered my missing step. So, I ran through the 'standard' configuration. I now get an error while Risc OS is initialising: Error: Unrecognised disc format, while scanning partition0 of device 0 So i need to somehow format the hard drive... The floppy I got wi...

Re: HCCS Ultimate Expansion IDE Produle failure

That label is referring to the error on power up from what I can make out. Besides, powering up with Delete was the first thing I tried. However, this morning I spent an hour reflowing every join on the board and IT'S WORKING!!!!! I now see Podule 1: Ultimate HCCS 1992. The machine is now happy to b...

Re: HCCS Ultimate Expansion IDE Produle failure

I envy you as your A3010 is a mezza one =D> :) I'm yet to explore this side of it. So far I upgraded the RAM to 4MB and trying to get this module working. So far as I understand, the mezzanine versions can potentially be upgraded to ARM3, not sure what else yet though... Hate to be the bringer of b...

Re: HCCS Ultimate Expansion IDE Produle failure

Aren't the blue chips capacitors and thus possible culprits for the fault ? Could you replace them ? They are decoupling ceramics and not likely to cause a problem. It's the electrolytic ones that can be an issue. I have replaced these on the board an in the PSU anyway. Also : did you check what is...

Re: HCCS Ultimate Expansion IDE Produle failure

Just to check, the external power brick is connected to the podule is giving the right voltages (probably +5V)? There is no external power inlet to the podule the drive is drawing its power from the main PSU (not a great idea in my opinion - I doubt these integrated PSUs are up to much). However I ...

Re: HCCS Ultimate Expansion IDE Produle failure

The smallest drive I have that works is labelled 527MB. It spins up, but I get the same error. I have smaller drives pulled from other machines, but they are all dead and not even spinning up. I also tried holding down shift on power up, but the error still appears. I have a very small CF card (64MB...

HCCS Ultimate Expansion IDE Produle failure

I have acquired one of these interfaces - it was sold to me as not-working. Indeed when I install it into my A3010, I get dropped straight into Supervisor mode with the error: Error: AddressException:Address exception at &%0 (Error Number &80000003) The HCCS has an eprom on it labelled A3010 IDE V1....
