I also need a speaker so I am going to order one of these and try it: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=micro+speaker+arduino&_sacat=0&_sop=15&_udhi=2 I'd gladly share one with you but I am afraid that shipping costs for one piece from the Netherlands to the UK will be much more expensi...

Re: Interrupts on the AtomFPGA

Thank Dave, interrupts are working now. My little test program increments the upper left corner \:D/

I have made this my power-on configuration.

Re: Interrupts on the AtomFPGA

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your feedback. You can commit all these changes including the change to clock_32.
I might have some time to test it by the end of the day.

Greetings,
Roland

To connect them, you would need to add an extra port to the AtomFpga_Core module header.
Can you also show me how I should do this, not for this project but for future projects?

Re: Interrupts on the AtomFPGA

The reason that interrupts are not working is..... - In AtomFpga_Atom2K18 you have a signal called rtc_irq - In AtomFga_Core you have a signal called rtc_irq - These are actually different signals - there is nothing that is connecting one to the other (unlike schematics, signals are not globally sc...

Re: Interrupts on the AtomFPGA

Nope, I cloned it.

I will clean up my code and add some comment so it's easier for you to see what my code does :)
And then I'll zip it so you can merge it into the master. After that I will fork it so we can co-work a bit easier.
Don't know if I manage it this today.

Re: Interrupts on the AtomFPGA

Can you somehow share all the the VHDL? (i.e. everything below the /src directory) Yes, that's possible. I can ZIP it and attach here or I can push my branch to Github if I have permissions for that. I'll also add the PLA instruction but that is not the problem here. That would make the Atom hang o...

Re: Interrupts on the AtomFPGA

Wait a minute ... I used my previous post as a rubber duck. I think that I know it: cpu_IRQ_n <= irq_n and mc6522_irq and roland_irq when CImplVIA else irq_n and roland_irq; Edit: this makes a difference: the Atom now only hangs. However: if I run the IRQTEST program on the Atom and then I re-progra...

Re: Interrupts on the AtomFPGA

I don't get it yet. In AtomFPGA_Atom2K18.vhd I have this code: process (clock_32) begin roland_irq <= '0'; end process; and in AtomFPGA_Core.vhd I have this: cpu_IRQ_n <= irq_n and mc6522_irq when CImplVIA else irq_n and roland_irq; How roland_irq is triggered does not matter for my question, it wor...

Re: 6809 Flex.....

It could be me. I adapted Flex for my 6809 copro. I added drivers for console and disk I/O. The 6809 send commands to the Atom (non tube) and the Atom executes it. IIRC there is no boot disk in this setup. Flex is loaded from the boot routine; it simply asks the Atom to transfer the Flex OS file(s) ...

Re: FPGA Adaptor as Floating Point Coprocessor

I prefer all the FP work to RL1887 because that will it make universal. If you want to use it for example in a FLEX environment then you have to do the cheap and simple work still by yourself, otherwise you have a complete FP API. And I think that the cheap and simple calculations are a good start t...

Interrupts on the AtomFPGA

I wanted to PM this message to Hoglet, but then I realized that it might be interesting for other people as well. So now it is here in the public domain: Hi Dave, Can you please explain me how the interrupts work on the AtomFPGA? In AtomFPGA_Atom2k18.vhd there is a signal bus_irq_n (which is also i...

Re: memory expansion

On second thought, Ian made me think about this, the FDC will repeat itself in the memory map so it is not advised to use the other addresses in this block as RAM. I am too much into the newest Atoms that only decode the I/O space that they really need but the FDC does not behave that way. So play s...

Re: Atom 2k18 ?

The FPGAtom has become quite a stable system. Hoglet did a great job getting it to work. However there are some small errors on the board that must be corrected for a second batch. The is still one board left from the first batch. Anyway, is there any interest in this audience for this new Atom? It ...

Today I build a Y-splitter for the 15p I/O connector so that I can connect a joystick, cassette recorder and a serial device to the new FPGAtom. Yes, the FDC only needs the first four addresses as it has only two address input lines (A0 and A1).

Re: memory expansion

Ok. Then you should worry :)

The easiest way is simply remove the 2114's from the FDC card. It's not really a modification.
And you have only to disable the ram at block 0Axx.

Moving the Atom FDC to #BC48

FDC TO #BC48 To move the Atom FDC (or more precisely: the 8271) you have to make some modifications in the Atom and in the Disk Pack (DP). The changes are drawn in the following four figures: Figure 1: changes on the FDC at the component side Figure1.png Figure 2: changes on the FDC at the solder si...
