Re: Eprom programmers
I am still very satisfied with my TL866II Plus programmer. I suggest you don't buy a Genius G540 (clone) since the software does not work correctly. At least, that's my experience with that programmer and that's why it learned to fly

Re: BBC + Master online (fork from ElkWiFi)
I know that the 1MHz bus can download data into RAM ( Hoglets Mandelbrot demo does it) but you can't run a complete sideway ROM on that bus. In theory you can copy the contents to sideway RAM but what if there is no sideway RAM?

Re: BBC + Master online (fork from ElkWiFi)
I'd like to see the transmission speed a little bit higher, like 115,200 baud. So I started drawing a new diagram that connects a WiFi board to the 1MHz bus. It will have the same options as the Electron version except that it doesn't have a ROM. The ROM should be installed in a socket of the Beeb. ...

Re: BBC + Master online (fork from ElkWiFi)
Responding to this post from Tom Seddon : There is no progress at the moment on this board. In this topic here there is a slight preference for the WiFi adapter at the 1 MHz bus. It involves however two issues: The 1 MHz bus has no internal power connector, how can the board be powered? There is no ...

Re: Acorn Electron online? Any such hardware.
I think that it is not relevant for most owners of a WiFi board because they have the module soldered to the board  I can try if the over-the-air update works in the current firmware.... The reason that I solder the modules on the board it that it won't fit in a Plus-1 slot when you use a s...

That's correct but the redesigned Atoms are different from the Atom-in-PC that I build in 1993.

I was 13 at that time and I had never seen a computer in real life. I only knew about computers from a popular scientific magazine "Kijk" (Look) that every month dedicated a page or two to computers like ZX81 and the progress of Apple Lisa and Sinclair QL. I can't remember if they ever wro...

Re: Splitting the Atom - Hardware wise
Although this is intended for use by the cassette interface, I do wonder if any software makes use of it for timing, delays, or random numbers? I don't think it's (widely) used for timing and delays. BITD I had this Atom-in-PC card and it didn't have the 2400Hz signal, but it had an emulated 60Hz s...

My cartridge arrived today and it’s amazing ! Installed and worked and downloading games. Has anyone worked out if it can be used to integrate with something to send a tweet ? Also, has any progress been made on a case for the board? I'm glad it arrived and that it works in your Electron. Actually,...

Re: Splitting the Atom - Hardware wise
It divides the system clock (already divided by 16 in IC 44) to the 2400Hz clock signal for the cassette interface. We have VHDL equivalent sources for that circuit. It's nothing more than a clock divider.

Re: RPi (zero) backpowering via gpio
In the Atom2k18 I power the Pi Zero through the gpio connector. I added a jumper to disconnect it. Any device connected to the Pi USB is powered by the Atom. So far no problems as I don’t power the Pi via USB. But when I do power through USB I think it won’t be a problem in this specific situation.

I wasn't able to get the escape key to stop the PRD command. Only break, or waiting till it hit the end seemed stop the dump. That said, I haven't tried again since fixing my soldering on the ram chip. Never heard of this issue. If the problem persists, what is your exact configuration (other hardw...

Re: "Minus One" - 3 x cartridge Electron expansion
The CPLD supplies a 3.3v signal to the programmer so if the light is off or red that means the signal is missing. Is this correct? Which pin is it on a XC9536 or XC9572? I always connect the Vref pin directly to 3.3V as I am not aware about a "Vref" pin on the CPLD (but I only now Xilinx ...
