Re: PyMMB - Call for volunteers

Just because I kick old tyres on a regular basis - The PyMMB code has a new home - https://projects.limbicly.com/adrian/PyMMB

I'm still looking for assistance with testing and debugging, but feel free to grab a copy and play with it.

Re: .MMB Disk Manager for Linux

Hi all, and sorry I've not been as attentive to self promotion as I normally am ;) A while back I wrote a complete MMB/SSD handling system in Python, inculding a GUI, CLI tools and a FUSE driver which allows you to mount MMB files directly on supported systems. The library and tools were (a while ba...

I understand your point about paid apps, back on my site I had some users who requested it so I added it (ages ago actually).

Looks like the belt is a perfect fit, so now to see if the rest of the drive is in better shape.

If there are any which need more than soap and love, please add me to the list (Sandhurst, Berks).

I've been refurbing beebs for a while now, and could probably help. I can also help with housing, feeding and watering if any don't have homes to go to.

Re: 3" disc drive belt

The very nice people at Retro Computer Shack have just sent me the replacement belts (One extra spare, just in case), for 4 quid which I thought was very reasonable... Now to see if they fit :)

Wish me luck

Re: PyMMB - Call for volunteers

I wrote a FUSE DFS reader a few years back, but I stopped running Linux on the desktop so ended up not really using it. Anyway, if you want to steal borrow stuff from my version, feel welcome. (C source code attached.) Thanks, that's appreciated. I'm still looking for a bug around xattrs which prev...

** For those who have not come across the term FUSE before, it stands for File System in User Space F ree U nix S pectrum E mulator ? It is true it does also (and more accurately) stand for that, however in this instance I'm not attempting to read BBC disk images on a specy emulator. ;) Also, SSD i...

PyMMB - Call for volunteers

As you may (or may not) have read from my introduction post, I'm working on a new, cross-platform, open-source (Apache licence 2.0) MMB/SSD manipulation library including command line tools, a FUSE driver ** and a GUI. While it is currently targeted specifically at the TurboMMC/SuperMMC and BBC DFS ...

3" disc drive belt

I've recently acquired (via Mr E. Bay) a 3 inch drive. The label on the back tells me it is a "Janome MFD80". During testing the belt slipped off which I thought was unusual as they are normally very tight. On opening the case I discovered that the reason it had fallen off was a rather unfortunate g...

Re: Monitor test program on ROM?

I think I saw somewhere a RamFS which used SWRam and wrote RomFS compatible images (Though maybe I was wrong about that last part) anyway, it allowed you to create FS images which could then be saved on disc or kept in battery backed SWRam. Problem is I'm sure it was a mag (Probably Acorn User) I re...

Well if the code is made available, and people are interested in working it, then I can offer hosting of a dedicated trac/svn etc for the project on my server.

I realise that I'm bumping an 8 month old thread but I too would interested in access to the source as it would raise the possibility of porting for people who don't run windows.

Yes that was me volunteering if permission and source is granted.

Yes, this drive has an edge connector that looks a lot like a 5.25 and I'm hoping works a lot like too as I was going to evict one of my 5.25 drives to test it.

Yes, if I remember correctly they shipped a first batch of 80,000 units to the US, expecting to need to follow it within a few months with another shipment but about 64,000 of them ended up coming back and getting after-market UK PSUs etc.
