Re: Cambridge Computers Z88 PSU - p&p only

They are cmos and run off AA batteries, so I don't think it will be anything too taxing :)

Not bad for a freebie! They are pretty basic (no pun). I don't think they had the charm of a zx81 :)

I had no luck in getting the SCSI2SD work on my SASI equipped X68000 Pro II, but it ran straight away on the SCSI equipped X68000 XVI. It also needed powering separately.

Re: Difficulties extracting zip / adf files to DOM

I drag this icon to a directory on my IDE DOM. Wot's an IDE DOM? The I drag the DOM icon to the BeebArc icon in the icon bar. The file linked to in a later message contains a 32-bit ADFS disk image (&800-byte directories, labelled 'Nick', floppies typically 800K or 1600K). BeebArc can only extract ...

I know, VP - that's why I mentioned it. Spotted the holes in the picture you posted. So here's the thing. How hard would it be to upgrade your machine to 32k? I'm thinking sockets an prototyping wire... Ah, I even read your last paragraph too  It sounds like a good project anyway, although I ...

Re: Pet Lovers?

I have two of the beasties. One's a 9" 4016 that I upgraded to 32k and the other is a 4032 "fat 40" that's been upgraded to 80 columns so it's at 8032 spec. Also has an additional 64k memory card (currently untested) that takes it to 8096 level. I use a small SD card based device called PetDISK to ...

Re: Pet Lovers?

I've got an old PET that I saved from being skipped. Not really done anything with it, the last time it was powered up, the keyboard didn't work. It's a nice ornament though, and the screen glows reassuringly at night.

Way too young I think, I've tried a few on linkedin, but I think since we are talking mid 60's onwards, age wise, they could be well retired :)

Ah I forgot to mention, age wise I think it could be mid 60's onwards.

Trying to track down an old Programmer - Steve Sutton

Bit of a strange request, but I'm trying to track down the programmer Steve Sutton who wrote a number of titles for the Sinclair QL in the late 1980s. He wrote the excellent ACT (Adventure Creation Tool), which I'm currently using to create my own game. I'd love to get in touch, and also see if I co...

That UK101 must have belonged to a serious hobbyist. Look at all those meticulously made home brew expansions, and imagine trying to work out what they all do. As to the price, it is proof that retro computer collectors are getting a bit silly. It had a 99p start price... at the metal drawer ...
