Re: Machine Code UniMenu for all platforms + new features and file archives
The Future:
I will look at putting the BBC ROM archive on SSDs for MMC & GoTek systems.
Look at incorporating the Electron Wifi system.
See what can usefully be done with ADFS systems.
However, I am now having a break to play with some hardware, lots of accessories to try out.

Re: Machine Code UniMenu for all platforms + new features and file archives
The zip files are available from http://rayharper.co.uk/UniMenu4R/Stardot.html 1. ElkGoTekSSDall.zip Rom SSDs in one sub-directory, Magazines each in their own sub-directory and games in 23 sub-directories. Electron ROMs includes MMFS1P48.SSD with all of the Electron MMFS/MMFS2 files renamed without...

Re: Machine Code UniMenu for all platforms + new features and file archives
The DataCentre BBC game SSDs, STH archive, are the same as those on the BEEB.MMB but the MMC card uses disc titles which are different to the filenames so the same database cannot be used for both. I have taken the files off the BEEB.MMB to generate a set of files with names of up to 8 characters wh...

Machine Code UniMenu for all platforms + new features and file archives
This UniMenu, UniMenu4R, is a development of the MODE4 version in machine code with additional features: 1. Not asociated with particular databases - loaded as required. 2. * commands, primarily for navigating directories. 3. Display of text files from a database with the new 'T' action and also fro...

Re: Repair Advice Wanted - What do you think is wrong here?
That screen display is fairly common - often due to faulty RAM or the Electron ULA - the square chip. Holding down as suggested above might indicate the ULA. If it is not soldered - carefully remove and carefully clean contacts with IPA. If resistant to the above you might need to send it to Dave Hi...

Re: ADFS recursive copy from one drive to another
I have used TreeCopy to backup an ADFS HDD on a Master to an A4000 fileserver (ADFS obviously) over an Econet. What I remember is that the syntax has to be exactly what it expects and it took me a while to get it right. Probably need to include :0.$.SourceDir-- etc. to :1.$.DestinationDir-- Can't re...

I guess if perforations are needed the user could add them or cut out the section for the ZIF socket with a Stanley knife.

Re: Programming CHAIN from Assembler
Thanks everyone that is very helpful. It's reassuring that I was thinking along the right lines. Gerald's code explains something that was not clear to me. In books on assembler EQUS statements end in the EQUB 13:EQUB 0 as in Gerald's code. I had not understood why the zero was there since you can d...

Programming CHAIN from Assembler
I am trying to rewrite one of my BASIC menus in assembler and need to CHAIN files. I have tried OSCLI which not unsurprisingly gives 'Bad Command' since it is not in BASIC and not a star command. I thought it might be possible to put *BASIC and the CHAIN ... in a function key but I feel there must b...

With my uv erazer I only use about 12min.
The instructions recommended increasing the time till blank then using that time.
I don't know whether 'too long' might be a problem.

In Beebem with the SSD loaded and write protect off you can IMPORT files, under EDIT menu, from the PC.beebuser66 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 11:48 pmHow do I now add program files into the new SSD please?

Similarly you can EXPORT them.

Re: Export Beeb MMC Corruption
Have you tried different ROMs.
There is the turbo one IFEL supplies and a turbo MMFS variant.
Also a standard non-turbo MMFS should work and would show whether it is the 'turbo' timing that is the issue.

Re: Acorn Torch Z80 board - No 'MCP'
I've checked the RAM which is OK.
I put in NTFS for the tube code and added a 6502 2nd processor which gave the top banner but then a star prompt and the keyboard was unresponsive. Maybe a tube problem.
Thanks for the suggestions but I'm putting this on the back burner now.

Acorn Torch Z80 board - No 'MCP'
I am trying to set up a Torch Z80 board.
The MCP120CBL rom appears to be active but from another thread the header should finish with MCP not BASIC.
The FS is DFS 0.9, there is no Z80 attached and the DFS is active.

Re: New Electron AP5 - 2nd Batch
Thanks for the image Dave, Having fitted the AP5 in its case I had forgotten the connectors 'hidden' on the rear of the board. I have drilled a 4mm hole under the 1MHz bus connector and made it slightly oval with a 3mm bit and a file so that 2xDupont cables can fit through. It can now power an ADFS ...

If anyone wants one of these boards (?) the hole could probably be filled with silver loaded epoxy to form the +'ve connection. Let me know - FOC - I'll even provide P&P . . . Silver and copper powder appears to be available for a few pounds - not sure which would be best, probably doesn't matt...

Re: Electron + PiTubeDirect with Z80 second processor DIR problem?
Thanks Dave, that has got it all running again.
I had extracted PTD from the zip again and forgotten to edit cmdline.txt
It suggests that the original problem was a corrupt cmdline.txt or faulty processing of it since originally it had been edited to set elk_mode=1.
Thanks again,
Ray

Electron ROM image archive and Menu for ADFS HDD and MMC card
I have recently constructed a ROM archive for the BBC during which I came across an archive containing many Slogger Electron ROMs. I have combined these with others I had to hand to make an Electrom ROM archive of 97 ROM images for a tweaked version of UNIMENU, UNIMNU4B, which will run from a HDD or...

Re: DataCentre & ADFS Hard drive 1255 x ROM archive with UNIMNU7
UniMenu7 Big Bug fix - after a search the rom image would not load, now it will and the menu is also 6502 second processor compatible. Both USB and HDD versions are in the zip.
Another bugfix - the database had about 20 entries without the correct termination for the USB directory.

Re: Multiple filesystems
The instructions for SST don't include any reference to entries such as:
*SST *DISC MYROM &D
SST expects the text after SST to be the name of the ROM file or ^ to indicate use the data in memory at &3500, it will not process *DISC it will try to find a file named *DISC.

Re: Multiple filesystems
It should be fairly easy to copy the SST to the disc image with the ROM images. Start with a blank DFS image. Copy the utilities to that. *INFO SST to find the load address and length of the file. *LOAD it. Move to the GoTek disc image with the ROMs. *SAVE SST loadaddress +length If you need any of ...
