Re: Heyley Adventures - BBC Versions

Necrobump to this thread... I haven't logged in here for years so it was great to see the amazing work on these games. I had a final dig around in my loft a few years ago and the original BBC discs aren't there so it's awesome to see the original MODE 7 versions out there. I think that's as close as...

Re: More Heyley Soft Finds

Here's a hint for you. Look at any of the SSD games discs that Dave uploaded. You will see a file on there called "Solve1". Start the game and then just type "SOLVE" at the command prompt. You need to do a manual CR on the last command to finish the game. It's a script file we built for each game wh...

Re: More Heyley Soft Finds

Attached is a ZIP file of containing the instructions and hintsheets for ALL the original Heyley Software games. This does not include "Rise in Crime" which was only available for the Archimedes. Thanks to “tautology” and “daveejhitchins” for retrieving and converting the original files. These files...

Attached is a PDF of the "Dreamtime" hintsheet. Thank you for the conversions Mr Tautology! The rest will follow soon.

Even corrected a 27 year-old typo!

Re: More Heyley Soft Finds

Excellent stuff. Don't worry about the formatting tags, I'll do that when I format them. Tabs would be better than spaces as I'll set them up for hanging intends to keep the formatting properly. I'm pretty sure that the random CRs aren't random - they split up the blocks into alphabetic blocks to ma...

Re: More Heyley Soft Finds

That is absolutely stonking. If we can get it out as plain ASCII text I will be able to create hintsheets for all the games.

Re: More Heyley Soft Finds

Excellent. Do you want me to extract the files or are you happy to do it? Once we have them in ASCII, I'll tart them up and create PDFs for all the games.

Re: More Heyley Soft Finds

Wow! Now that's a find and a half! In terms of the hintsheets, I've sort of been working on an Interword convertor. This may give me the impetus to actually finish it! That would be incredibly useful. I've just looked at the source files for the hintsheets in Notepad++ and they are full of garbage ...

Re: More Heyley Soft Finds

This post is quite timely. Last weekend, after spending the entire weekend clearing my loft out, I found all the original materials for all the Heyley games. This includes the hand drawn maps and development notes as well as the original hintsheets we created. I know people were looking for the hint...

Re: Heyley Software Games - Help Required !!

Hi LordRoberts, Could you just clear one small point up for me please. Were the BBC versions any different to the Electron versions that have been found? Did they feature any more locations or puzzles, or were they exactly the same but in mode 7?? Thank you. The BBC game were exactly the same. When...

Re: Heyley Software Games - Help Required !!

Sorry to wake this thread from the dead, but I have FOUND all the hintsheets for these games. After spending the entire weekend clearing my loft out, I found all the original maps and development notes for the Heyley Gamse and this included the hintsheets. Of, course these are in paper format as I d...

Re: Heyley Software Games - Help Required !!

From a technical level, the header and data format does seem to match what I've called in the ascape notes "Adventurescape v2.0" with some manglage. I'm planning to add support for these games as soon as I can get some free time. I'm currently holding back on breaking the databases apart too much a...

Re: Heyley Software Games - Help Required !!

Hi all...Howard Roberts, co-founder of Heyley Software here. First of all, a big thanks to Dave Edwards for notifying me that these games had been found. I thought they had been lost forever but it's awesome to see them appear again. Here's a bit of history about the Electron versions of these games...
