Re: Acorn World and ABUG meetup, Cambridge 20-22nd September 2019.

Was good as usual. Thanks Jason and all. Only trouble with just doing Sunday only is it seems to be time to come home not long after getting there.

Hopefully by the next one I will have the FPGA doing something more impressive than counting in a seven segment display.

Re: A new MENU system for MMC/Gotek

Quick run through my usb sticks. All mine come from high street shops except a couple that came from companies I have worked for. Both 16GB usb fails. One from pc world (10 years old), and one from Tesco (San disk, brand new). All 3 usb in range 2 - 8 GB work. Oldest 128 MB (15 years later old) does...

Re: Acorn World and ABUG meetup, Cambridge 20-22nd September 2019.

Shame I couldn’t make the talks, does anyone know if The museum are going to put up on their you tube channel? All going to plan I should be there this morning. Then I just have to remember who I am giving stuff to, and who I am collecting from. Hopefully not to be bring home more than I left with, ...

Re: A new MENU system for MMC/Gotek

Gotek must be more picky than others devices.

The ones that didn’t work were old, like 15 years old. Bought a new one to see if that works out of the box. I suspect it will.

There is, but I don't remember whereabouts you are.

The DFS Toaster was finished with about four hours to spare:
I’ll bring some bread tomorrow.

Anything else anyone needs tomorrow? I.e. forgot?

I see Dave H. has found the tea trolley already.

Is there a floor plan this time? Just wondering where I will be on Sunday.

I think I have lots of bits to bring with me to get rid of, and then I think I am probably taking the same again back from others.

Its the Flash stick. By some complete fluke the random stick I use in my gotek normally works, a couple of others dont. How odd. Fill look to see if they are formatted of partitioned any differently. Will try to dig up a few more sticks. I do actually need to buy a couple more. The 'non working stic...

Yes gotek works fine, used it all the time for last 18 months. Started on 0.9 firmware now up to something like v2.13 of firmware. Yep as you say I have the ff.cfg and many ssds in the root of the drive. I will backup my normal USB flash stick I use in a minute and try that one. Just in case somethi...

Not used Discord. Have used MS Teams and Slack, or not really. I find they are quite useful for doing something in the now, e.g. like chatting about ABUG event, but tend to drain time otherwise.

Re: ICE T65/Z80/6809

I have played with ice studio, where you can mix schematics and Verilog. Unfortunately they always seem a year or so away from having anything working with XLinix on the open source tools. And as been said before no VHDL support, I dare say someone will implement it one day. Otherwise using the tool...

Although I have the 1Mhz FPGA and ISE as backup.
In ISE you can freely mix VHDL and Verilog in the same project.
Useful to know, that hadn’t occurred to me.

Re: Beeb 1MHz Bus FPGA Adaptor

Is this the SID in the ATOM FPGA, is there some thoughts it doesn't sound like the real one? I do have all the extra bits, apart from the need to pick up yet another sdcard, to turn my 1Mhz into the ATOM. And I have 2 BeebSID one with real sid and one with SwinSID. I certainly can't tell the differe...

There are tools that will attempt to convert VHDL to Verilog: https://github.com/ldoolitt/vhd2vl The CPU in System68 is just a single file: cpu68.vhd Might be worth trying as a starting point. I shall have a look at that, sounds useful. They said on the Amp hour recently. 'FPGA project 1 - blink LE...

I have looked at System68 for my SWTPC on FPGA idea, but of course it is VHDL and I am looking at Verilog. I can just about blink a few lights so might be a while before I do a 6800 system in Verilog. Of course I asked the original question a long time before I started playing with FPGAs. But I sudd...

I'd like the user port switcher and ROM extender please.
They're yours.

Just to reiterate they need some TLC. As I have one of Cmorley's external ROM switcher and made a user port switcher from a printer switcher box, I had no need to fix them.

How does that work for assembled kids on tindie.com, doubt they go through any sort of compliance. Or is it because you are using an ‘assembly’ service, I.e. the creator in their shed?

Three options I can think of.

- I could photo it.
- Try to create a shroud around the scanner so that it doesn’t over expose
- Bring it to ABUG, assuming that museum has a scanner better able to deal with book

Will try to have a play with scanner first.
