Re: Teething troubles with 'new-to-me' Elk

Unfortunately the non-functioning keys are preventing me from doing much more than typing on the screen right now (one of the keys that doesn't work is the D so I can't type any of the MMFS commands required to load any software!) so I can't really put it's through it's paces until I resolve the ke...

Re: Teething troubles with 'new-to-me' Elk

Thanks. I'll have a go at cleaning/reseating the ULA later today. I tried some switch cleaner on the sticky keys and managed to get a few back but 9, Left Arrow, Right Arrow, P, Up Arrow, D, Left Shift and Full Stop are all completely not working. Is it possible to remove individual switches to bet...

I suppose I should get my Kenda DMFS back from storage and see if I can do anything with it. My inventory records that I have its manual, but that it has a pin missing from the module. I recall it arrived that way as it had been posted in a black plastic mailing bag with no other protection, and se...

Re: Acorn Electron online? Any such hardware.

Today I have build a second board (in the way that it should be) and tested it with the AP6v131 ROM. There is a little cosmetic clash on a power on and CTRL BREAK reset. The AP6 ROM comes first and displays its banner "Acorn Electron 32K" (it does not recognize my 128K paged ram) and below my banne...

I had an external double denstiy 5.25" drive connected to my StrongARM RiscPC, to read DFS and DDFS discs in late 90s, (I used this setup to write !ImageDFS) - so it should be possible with a RPC700... I now have a 5 1/4" Drive that may be versatile enough to work with my RiscPC 700. The Specifications are readily available for the Chinon FZ-506 here which gives me a good start. I've not found a TRM or Schematic for the RiscPC 700 - OK there is a schematic on Chris' Acorns but it looks like a deve...

I could be wrong but I think that thermal fuse is embedded in the transformer itself so no need to add another.
That's correct . . . In some cases you can get-at-them, if needed.
