Ken . . .

I could test the Turbo board out for you? At least then you'd know if it was the board or your Elk playing-up! I have a box full of Turbo boards . . .

The video link from the purchase suggested using rubbing alocohol (IPA?) but advice on here was distilled water - which is the best way forward?
Distilled water isn't going to 'kill' any mould, just wipe if off. IPA

Mine has arrived - has been built and is now waiting for connectors from RS . . . Cable will have to be in two pieces, but not an issue!

Many thanks, fizzyade, for putting the kits together . . .

I found an IDE interface in an A310 that is labelled "SF & PS IDE". The copyright mentions Peter Szymanski. It seems similar to the ICS interface, but not quite the same. Yes, Peter had a partner - I came across his name yesterday, whilst looking for something else - If I find it again I'll add it ...

Does anyone have a working copy of the P.R.E.S. Plus 3 Welcome Disc, please? I need a copy to carry out some testing. I have two copies that are unusable :?

I do have two copies of the Acorn Plus 3 Welcome Disc - But these are not suitable for what I need to do.

Do you have one of the original Slogger boards? As I have one so could possibly do comparative tests if needed. I do, thanks for the offer, though. I did some testing yesterday and I did find a difference, with the MRB fitted, but I'm not convinced it is to do withe the MRB!! More later . . . Dave ...

Glad it wasn't either of my boards, but at least you found the problem. Phill . . . I'm currently looking at an issue involving the MRB - I need to check if it's your MRB, a generic problem with MRBs or nothing at all to do with MRBs. I'll start a new thread, when I have more information. Dave H :D

Re: Electron Plus3 + ROM/RAM board problem

I'll try to make it a 640k drive. I have several modern 3.5" drives that should do - I expect it will need a twisted cable to make it Drive 0. Would there be any advantage to a laptop drive? The advantage would be two drives :D the disadvantage is you'll need to source a suitable lead (see photos)....

My R260 needed a similar sort of repair with a dozen or so damaged tracks but it was visually obvious where the problems were - however, after a few years of working fine, it's also refusing to boot now :(
More corrosion, probably sneaked under the solder resist :?

Re: Electron Plus3 + ROM/RAM board problem

Are you sure that the +12V being at or about +16V with the drive idle is not normal? Only with supplies that are unregulated, or regulated to another supply rail, they will tend to float at a higher voltage if there is no load. Further, I would not expect a 12V motor to necessarily die if it was su...

It might be worth asking Mark, at RetroClinic, if he could do some kits for this 'upgrade'. I, or anyone else, could supply the brackets - I'll drop him a line. If he doesn't think it's worthwhile, I'll ask him if he could supply all the cables etc. and I'll hold a few kits.
