Whelks, the 8BS mirror is dead

Hi everyone
The 8BS mirror on whelks is no longer functioning. Daniel has removed it due to an excessive increase in charges. 8BS will remain as it is at 8bs.com for the forseeable future.

Re: Acorn User discs missing? (Aug - Oct 1994)

8BS has The Acorn User cover discs up to and including April 1994. I seem to remember it's because the 8 bit stuff fizzled out completely there and was 32 bit from then on. Although 8BS does have the magazine scans to December 2003

Thank you :-)
Added to the BBC section of the 8BS library. As you suspected, the two images are identical.

Re: Acorn Art Thread

I have no idea if it's available for download somewhere, but I used a paint editor from one of the last issues of Fast Access. I think it was called Megadraw, and required Sideways RAM to run. I eventually used it to produce the loading screen for my Headcase Hotel game. I recall very much enjoying...

Re: Acorn Art Thread

Excellent thread. Great contributions! Oddly enough, I am currently working my way through my favourite photos and putting them on to BBC discs. I am also working my way through the whole of the 8BS library and taking off the images to put in to web pages. It's quite a task but it's coming on well. ...

Winchester Hard Drive Noises

Having just recreated a working disc image of the long dead 8BS Winny, I am dead chuffed. I was getting to think, has anyone recorded or if not, could someone please record the sound of a Winchester Hard Drive in action? I would like to put it in to the 8BS sound archives. Or was it just mine that s...

8 Bit Acorn Webring

The original 8 Bit Acorn Webring stopped working a while back. As a stop gap, I cobbled together a replacement with the original members simply listed on a page. I have now created a new webring that requires folks to sign up to again. I invite all original members (some of whom I cannot contact as ...

BBC PD Disc Search

Hi I am looking for the following discs to complete the BBC PD collection on the 8BS website. I was hoping that maybe folks here could have a search through their collections to see if any of the following were still in existence: Alan Blundell's BBC PD Collection: 51 - Fecoms 98 - Digitised Picture...

Re: Music 5000 in B-Em

The reorganisation of the 8BS Music section is now complete. I have individually examined and catalogued almost every file in that section. The main catalogue page does not contain the detailed descriptions, they are available as a separate html page in a passworded zip file. 8BS being the way in.

Re: Music 5000 in B-Em

Right, having taken a brief look at the 8BS MUS section of the catalogue, I have realised there is a bit of sorting out required there. While I am at it, if anyone has discs of M5000 music, I would appreciate copies to add to the library

I notice a couple of links to the 8BS website catalogue in this thread that will no longer work due t...

Re: thebbclives website gone.

The 8BS website is more or less fully functional again now. Thanks for your patience.

It still needs a lot of tidying up and a search adding but it's all there and working.

If anyone finds anything that contradicts that statement, please let me know!

No quite up and running properly I am afraid. My apologies. I don't have access to the server yet and because of the changes, a lot of stuff doesn't work yet. Once I have access, I will start fixing it. Please bear with me, I am trying :-(

Hi All Yeah. I am aware of all the problems. My apologies. The 8BS server was broken and Jess replaced it. It came back on line while I was away and unable to do anything about it. All the CGI stuff and email isn't working because of the changes. On top of that, Jess hasn't yet fixed up a log on for...

Hi Guys I can assure you all that the 8BS will be around for as long as there is somewhere to put it. Sadly, at the moment, the 8BS server is down, Jess is mending it after it was hacked. She said it would take a few days, let's hope that's not much longer. Meanwhile, there is this: http://stardot.o...

Hello :D

For some unknown reason I started a mode 7 font project years ago. Finally got around to tidying it up.

Mode 7 fonts for the web (or anything else) but not really a font as such, just a load of gifs.
