Re: Disassembly of Superior Software's Stranded

It's also the first one that I've used Ghidra fully for, which does make it easier than my old tactic of exporting from 6502dis and search and replace. I used Ghidra to strip off the manual based protection from the Arc version of Simon the Sorcerer a few months back. I'd previously spent many days...

I also get 35 on a Pi3 and just for a laugh I tried it under ADFFS, which runs the 26bit SA version of BASIC under the JIT and got 43.

I like to ask if someone have or now about a game collection that is ready for emulators on hard disc images or something like this so i can try to transfer them from the emulator to my a3000 ?. I can confirm that replacing the slave CF with an HD in my case, gets the NIC working again. I've raised a new bug thread over on ROOL.
i'm fallen in the same bug
Please refer to this post, which covers the issue along with the fix. You need to pull the Ready line low with a diode.

Thanks for the code. It gives the error "No room for this DIM at line 20" under RO 3.1. What did I miss? You need to slide the Next slot to just over 800K, so it can allocate enough memory to read the floppy. I had a look at the latest ADFFS, but didn't see a "Save as ADF" option. It appears I adde...

If memory serves me correctly, on the commercial versions of !Nevroyn, there was an unused byte somewhere at the beginning of the disk, which was read by the game at start up, then used to calculate some things in the game code itself. Exactly what, I couldn't say I never got that far when I (cough...

A couple of months ago I compiled what was then the latest Arculator, but I could only get JFDs to work when emulating a machine with the newer FDC (SuperIO). Is this correct? That's a known issue. It's simply BASIC wrapped with code that copies it to &9000 and then runs it, so you should be able to get the original BASIC file by doing the following from BASIC: *LOAD !RunImage 8FAC PAGE=&9000 OLD Given the size of !RunImage, there will also data or code after the BASIC part which is only 37Kb ...

Re: Emulatoring Older RISC OS.

ADFFS is the Archimedes equivalent of WHDLoad but you will need 4MB of RAM and a HD to use it with floppy images. It will present a specific version of RISC OS to a game on RISC OS 3.71 and above, but this functionality isn't required on RISC OS 3.1x as RISC OS 2.0 software can be made to work with...

Jon's site has the rights for wolfenstein 3D. This is the 32 bit version however so don't know if it'll run on an A3000. JASPP does indeed have rights to release a version of Wolfenstein 3D and its 26/32bit neutral so should run on original Arcs. It might slow down when you're shot as I added a scr...

I've had a look at the copy of Xenon2 on a physical AU10 CD and it's corrupt. Most of the file is missing, which is why you're having problems running it. I'll see if I have the original floppy in the archive to compare. The archive copy on the CD is also corrupt ( archived.games.ex-commercial.xeno...

"No writable memory at this address" Has anyone seen that before? You possibly don't have enough screen memory allocated. Download ADFFS and use the Xenon 2 boot script to run it. OSCLI "SAVE IDEHandler "+STR$~A%+"+"+STR$~(A%!-4)

Whilst other versions of the RISC developmments card may have included a IDEFS filing system, this doesn't. The documents linked refer to RISC OS 2.0 and 2.01, so quite old. Like the later Castle card this hooks into ADFS under RISC 3.0 and later. http://chrisacorns.computinghistory.org.uk/32bit_Up...

It will be great if the patch does work, but I think it's unlikely. Whilst the IDE card is using ADFS, it's replacing the hardware access layer, to access completely different hardware. I don't think it will work either, I'm pretty certain IDEFS needs patching separately in this case as its a 3rd p...

Use the pre-patched ADFS 2.68 in preference to the live patch, as it also patches an issue with large data transfers. It's attached to the post I linked too.

Don't format it until you know there's no source code on it. As JASPP owns the rights to the Krisalis titles, I'd love to get hold of any Krisalis source code, so we can release 32bit versions of the games.
