Car Wars
That is a (no doubt excruciatingly expensive at the time) cartridge game.

TI99/4A #2 doesn't want to play. Shows a boot screen but no key response, so the keyboard is probably broken. Easy fix.

Re: Today I received.....

I guess so... I did look at the going price on a certain well known internet auction site and they do go for quite a bit more.

Problem now is I have to move the Superbrain off the desk to make space so I can triage them. There is absolutely no space in here!

A collection of TI-99/4A computers and accessories. IMG_5543.jpg 2x computers, PSUs, TV modulators and joystick sets. 9 ROM cartridges, mostly games, mostly crap looking (Hunt the Wumpus? That's a BASIC game!). A random cassette player in need of a clean and a bunch of tapes, no doubt with some type...

Re: Blakes 7

Yes, I suppose so, LB. But to me it looked like an excuse for Joss Whedon to film a Western show. Most of the episodes I saw were about them landing on (yet another) Western themed planet and trading. I don't recall the brutal regime being much of an antagonist. BRING BACK B7! (By which I mean, the ...

Re: Blakes 7

Firefly is a different genre. Not really sci-fi is it? More like "nice moralistic cowboy stories". Although some of the characters die horribly in the 'final episode' i.e. the Film. Arghh! Plot spoiler! I haven't had the opportunity to see the film, but I did enjoy the series (despite it not really...

He seems to have a lot of equipment. Maybe he is using the cutting board as a background for the pictures?

Anyway, I suppose it's good that there are people working to repair retro computers. Good value - who knows? Depends on the owner's willingness to pay.

My schoolmates raved about it when the first series was aired but I couldn't get into it. By the time the final series was broadcast, I was hooked (must have been Soolin, "Cor, wot a stunna!" as the Sun used to say). Did you know that Glynnis Barber also played one of Servalan's cloned soldiers, by ...

I have some cartridges with mine - Spell Master (with manual) and a 32k RAM pack. The machine is in lovely condition but the display has lost some pixels on the left hand side, which is a real pity.

Re: Purchasing CP/M Software for the Z80 second processor

That was it, the MDS-800 machine used it, and DRI distributed CP/M on 8" disks formatted like that, at least initially. But I don't consider it a "standard" because of the proliferation of other formats through the lifetime of the operating system. Yes, I know I'm splitting hairs, sorry JG..

Re: Purchasing CP/M Software for the Z80 second processor

Mark, I know you know all this, so I am answering for the wider audience. That was indeed [one of] the problem(s) with CP/M, but at the time there was no "standard" disk format, either for physical media or capacity / format. Or, to quote the manual: The standard CP/M system assumes operation on an ...

Check the PSU for RIFAs with cracked casings. If you find any, replace immediately.

If you have any doubts about this, replace anyway. They're not that expensive.

Errrm... yeah, OK... but the Beeb had lots of I/O ports and other built in expandability. Sinclair's advert kind of skips all that. I think it also ran BASIC programs faster (subjectively) and of course had a proper keyboard. Not that I'm partisan about it - I never had a Beeb back then, but I did h...

Re: Those Spectrum nerds, eh?

Well, I rather like my QL keyboard. But it is a very late model. One reason the keys are good compared to the Spectrum Plus was the type of plastic they used (at least in mine). More solid. By the way, CP/M also runs on 8086 processors - it was called CP/M-86 - and on 68000 processors - CP/M-68K. No...

Hmm? I recall that the Microdrives worked quite well on the Spectrum. It was on the QL that they failed, thanks to a badly ported set of drivers (allegedly). Later QLs were much better, and had surprisingly good keyboards. In other words, it might look like a Spectrum Plus keyboard, but it feels lik...

Though I must admit this Spectrum add-on's pretty damn cool. Just slot it in the back and you've a proper disk drive, joystick and video ports plus non-wobble support base to keep it secure. If you could only afford some modular arrangement to build your computer piecemeal, I'd say this was a prett...

There is another five note stanza (at least, on the ST version) that you ought to incorporate. It's the one when he transfers to another body.

The ULTRA RARE one (as I am sure most people know) has been listed for years by "Our Motorcycling Friend".

But is it ultra rare? I suppose if it were a Science of Cambridge MK14 then "ultra rare" might be pertinent, but surely not an Atom.
