Re: Electron User Port & Rom/Ram board

... Edit: maybe I should add that when I transfered a ROM file from the PC to the Elk, after the transfer completed, it would not show up with *HELP or *UPXROM ?... For what it's worth, I've seen this happen a few times myself (*RLOADing from disk) but after rocking the EUP back and forth (gently!)...

Re: Electron User Port & Rom/Ram board

While I haven't tried the mod Martin, it looks like you've nailed it! =D> I'll have a snoop 'round tomorrow for a 74LS00, not sure if I have one to hand, but if so, will give the mod a shot. By the way, is there any way to avoid removing my lovely little toggle switch [JP1], 'cause if I fit the mod,...

Re: Electron User Port & Rom/Ram board

In my case, the only common elements are the Plus-1 and the Peg, as I've been trying 2 Elks (issue 4 & 6), 2 EUP's, different methods of loading roms, Acorn explanation rom and the Slogger expansion rom, so I certainly wouldn't bet on the issue being the Elks...

Re: Electron User Port & Rom/Ram board

Same thing here Martin... Tried it with the pull-up on JP1, added another to pin-20 = same results. Added another to pin-27 (nWE), just to see, left other in place = same results. Also tried removing pull-up from JP1, left other two in place = same results. Each time the results are that "UPXROM ?" ...

Re: Electron User Port & Rom/Ram board

No Paul, in my case the Issue 4 Electron shows the rom slots as being writeable, but on loading a rom image into them and typing *ROMS.... there's nothing there. Strangely, it's my issue 6 that exhibiting this exact behaviour (with Acorn 1.0 Expansion rom), with or without the pull-up (using UPXROM...

John, just trying to ensure we compare apples with apples... 2) Corruption can occur immediately on loading the rom, you don't need to press break. How are you determining that you've got corruption? Re: Electron User Port & Rom/Ram board

Damn, this is doing my head in! Well, the pull-up makes no difference in my setup, as far as I can tell. I mentioned in an earlier post that I was seeing corruption in both banks. Well, I may have been mistaken. When I save the swram contents back to disk and compare to the originals on a lap...

Re: Electron User Port & Rom/Ram board

Well, I tried the cap. No joy - same result. In desperation, I built EUP #2 (yep Martin, found a few more of those batteries I was missing  ) . With the 1st ram chip I tried, it wasn't showing any rom image after an attempted load. It was behaving as though it was write-protected, even though ...

Re: Electron User Port & Rom/Ram board

I'm picking up 4.97v on the EUP (before D3). I haven't changed D3, but I know there's 4.95v going to Vcc (pin 28) on SWRAM. Enough I presume? I've no time to try the electrolytic this evening but will try it tomorrow evening. Is this just a matter of bridging pins 28 (+) & pin 14 (-) ? [Edit: Load w...

Re: Electron User Port & Rom/Ram board

No idea here...unless it a problem with my Elk or a Plus-1 thing ? You mentioned you're using a Rombox+, have you tried a Plus-1? Re: Electron User Port & Rom/Ram board

For anyone utilising SWRAM on their EUP, it might be worthwhile replacing JP1 (the top, WPROT link) with a small right-angled toggle switch. EUP Toggle.JPG After you load a ram bank with a rom image, you will need to move JP1 from East to West to write-protect the newly loaded image (and before hitt...
