Re: New Risc PC 600 restoration

NEWS! I've tried the machine with my CRT with mixed results. I'm at work at the moment, but hopefully there will be a video available later. Initially, the CRT would only show a purple line which turned blue. The current configuration has a new stick of RAM and the existing VRAM; this gives the best...

Re: New Risc PC 600 restoration

Hello everyone again! Today, I've started cleaning the motherboard with the help of your suggestions. Firstly, I've gone over the whole thing with a soft brush and a point to take any dirt off the board. Secondly, with a small brush, some white vinegar and a photograph developing tray I've started t...

Re: New Risc PC 600 restoration

I haven't looked at it since I took the pictures, i'm assuming that the battery is soldered in? The board doesn't have TOO much corrosion, but there is a fair amount in the VRAM socket and some of the connectors by the looks of things. I've got some new RAM for the machine, but the rest of the cards...

New Risc PC 600 restoration

Hello everyone! As promised, here are some pictures of the new Risc PC 600. Please bear in mind that all I have done is taken the easily removed parts off and put them in anti-static bags. Hopefully with some TLC and a soft bristle toothbrush; this could make a nice part of the collection. http://i....

Re: Worth Taking a Look At

The Risc PC I mentioned arrived today, and to be quite honest, apart from some caked dust in places, its not too shabby. The battery will have to be replaced, but its certainly not the worst I've seen. I think it'll be a fair restoration job, but we'll see how it goes. I can post some better picture...

Re: Datacentre Import Problem

I reckon its the memory stick issue. It was a file name like TEST.SSD and it did do some drive stuff and you could clearly see it was counting through the hex.
I'm in town today so I'll buy a new memory stick and let you know.
Cheers,
Greg

Datacentre Import Problem

Hi everybody! It's been a reeeeeally long time since I've been on here! Quick catchup: I've just started work at college doing a L3 IT Diploma. 6th Form was terrible so I quit. Anyway; I'm having a slight problem importing disk images onto disks. I'm still using my Master, but when i try to import u...

Does anyone know of any CAD/CAM software that was made for the beeb? I am doing a course in Graphics (Technical Drawing in old money) and the software I use at school is absolutely shocking!

Greg

Re: 'The Old Computer'

Here is another interesting website. But they seem not to have heard of Acorn, the BBC Micro, or the Electron et al though. How strange. Perhaps someone needs to put them straight! :( That's because the micro isn't obsolete! Just look at all the new software releases and the people on these forums!
