Re: PC Motherboard Floppy disk support.

Add the AsRock Conroe865PE to this list as when mine was working it could read/write DFS disks using OmniFlop under Windows 7 32-bit. I'm not sure which FDC it had on the motherboard.

Re: Palettemate / enhanced video ULA with 4096 colours

Thanks for the help guys :) I've ordered the SS-02 silicone pump since the one I have is only a cheapie one. I do have a reel of solder with flux rosin core, so maybe applying a little bit of that would help? And yes having good quality tools makes the job easier, just wish I was able to do this mys...

Hi all, This evening my Brother had a go at desoldering the original Video ULA in my B+128k, but the solder is not melting very quickly. I'm guessing I need something like this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WEP-2-in-1-Soldering-Iron-Station-Hot-Air-Gun-Unsoldering-Digital-Dual-LED-/112508285413 At th...

Looks like the VideoULA is soldered directly to the board, so I had to order some more tips for the Solder Station N78AR so my Brother can desolder the chip.

Re: 8271FDC & 3.5" drives, DFS1.20+hacks

Colin, are the drives PC 3.5" HD ones? When I tested my Beeb B with 3.5" disks, it was a Cumana DD drive. So maybe your particular machine doesn't like HD drives :-k

ISTR one of my BBC B's is fitted with a Watford DFS 1.44 and don't remember any issues saving to 3.5" DD disks. Give that a try.

Thanks for any advice/tips.

Re: Flash EEPROM solution for B+?

Thanks for your replies Elminster and Mr. B :), Ideally I'd want a ready-made solution that can be plugged in, but I realise flying leads would be needed to enable the RW lines on the ROM sockets, unless there's a design that doesn't need these? BeebOPL and ARM7TDMI

Hi all, I've managed to get the BeebOPL board to produce sound with the ARM7TDMI Co-Pro active. But writing the number 4 to &FC04 causes the machine to lock up and a soft BREAK is needed. Also sound is only produced when the value of &FC04 is above 170-ish. My simple BASIC test program just loops fr...

Re: DFS 2.26 corrupting memory when not current filing system?

While I can see the SRAM utils are completely within their rights here, I'm a bit surprised this doesn't cause more problems, given the common practice of downloading programs to &E00. If we're talking BITD, then isn't it because SRAM and DFS 2.26 only came as standard in the Model B+, which was re...

Indeed it does, you should see the Digital Research logo appear while it's loading. The 512 Co-Pro also works on a B/B+ with Tube and ADFS support by using it in a Watford external Co-Pro adaptor box.

Because they are DOS formatted discs, which are only read when DOS is loaded. Only Disc 1 is part ADFS to load DOS into memory.

This is very impressive!!! :D I wonder if BASIC V would allow the full access to the colour palette, since BASIC V's COLOUR accept 3(4?) comma seperated values. I have a 64MB ARM7TDMI Co-Pro that uses BASIC V.

The ASRock ConRoe865PE Motherboard can read/write BBC DFS and ADFS disks under Win7 x86 using a 3.5" HD Sony Floppy drive. Can't seem to get Omniflop working on Win8.1/Win10 x64 since the driver is not digitally signed :(

Disk backup proggy

Hi all,

Attached is a disk backup program I wrote years ago, it works with 1770 DFS's and should work with 8271s as well. Just remove the zip extension and chain the program. It won't copy advanced protected disks but will copy disks with deleted data.

Hope this is useful to some :)

Would this work in a BBC B+ with the 32k rom link set?
