Re: How many sold? German tank problem:serial nums wtd

So the front sticker would have been changed, as it has the sticker 'Archimedes 310' ? What you say makes sense (as susual) : this A310 must be an A305 upgraded to 1 Mbyte, and it's been upgraded to RO 2. I remember that when I upgraded my A310 to dual floppy, the Acorn kit not only came with a new...

Re: Risc PC 700 schematics

In the days when I was collecting all things Acorn, I looked for schematics, Technical Reference Manuals and the like for computers after the RiscPC 600 and failed to find any trace of them A number of people have told me that this was because at that point in time, due to the technical manufacturin...

Re: Risc PC Ethernet Cards

I assume that you are looking for a 10baseT Ethernet NIC to fit in the RiscPC's Network slot. Don't get a 10base2 Ethernet card (the coax socket). 10base2 is older much harder to get working and hard to get the cables, T pieces etc needed for a 10baseT network and last but not least unlikely to be c...

Chris's Acorns collection and website

I have donated my collection of Acorn and third-party computers, software, documentation, upgrades and ephemera (in fact everything) to the Centre for Computing History. It was collected earlier this month from Fleet and is now being sorted and cataloged (it will take a lot of work to catalog everyt...

Re: Another one bites the dust?

Is the pro-active approach still a thing? I ask because I've found Chris's Acorns to be handy, and I'd hate to see it vanish someday... Hopefully won't happen any tine soon, But .. If someone wants to formally undertake to mirror Chris's Acorns, let me know I don't have a problem, but would like to...

Re: Wanted: Amstrad CF2 3" floppy discs

Got the time to sort out the CPC6182. First of all thanks to IanS for the drive belt. I opened up the CPC6128 and removed the blob of licorice-like black stuff from the drive capstan and put the new drive belt on, reassembled the CPC6128 and reconnected the CPC 6128. Switched on and the drive light ...

Had offer of free drive belt which I have accepted.

CF2 disks sold.

There will be some second-user CF2 discs to sell when I decide what to do with the 6128.

Re: Wanted: Amstrad CF2 3" floppy discs

Thankfully I have the CPC Monitor with it so I may be alright if it works. As I hoped, open box, blow dust etc off, plug computer and monitor together, plug in mains and switch on, find power switch on monitor and switch on, find on/off switch on computer and switch on and everything springs to lif...

Re: Wanted: Amstrad CF2 3" floppy discs

Be careful what you plug into it if you do not have a proper CPC monitor (these have built in power supplies for the machine). The 5v input in the back of the 6128 is +ve tipped. The 12v input (on the dangling coiled wire), which runs the drive motor, is -ve tipped. Both inputs must be regulated. T...

Re: Wanted: Amstrad CF2 3" floppy discs

I'll have another look at my cpc6128 at the weekend (22/23 June) and try switching it on, see what happens. I'll check the disc drive as well to boot to CP/M. Then I'll decide what to do. If I decide to sell I'll let you know and you can have all the discs if you buy the computer!

Re: Wanted: Amstrad CF2 3" floppy discs

I am just trying to decide if I really want to keep my Amstrad 6128. At the moment I think I'll keep it and some essential discs but get rid of the rest. I think when I looked on Saturday there are some unused 3" discs, there are certainly some used but unwanted ones. If no-one else offers any, how ...

Re: 4corn Computers site relaunched, with content!

I was playing with ArmSI last night and was surprised to find that my 40MHz A540 came in at 20 MIPS as it is more than my Arm610 RiscPC gives! I did a comparative performance table using Matthias Siefert's !SICK ( http://www.software-evolutions.de/ ) on as many machines as I could get it to run it ...

After many years of looking, all the way from Italy, I finally got an Olivetti Prodest PC128S aka a Master Compact (see picture). Serial number is 07-AIB10-2018543. Most of the Arcs which you see with daughter boards over the ROM sockets will have have a RISC OS 3 upgrade. The 1 Mbit Arthur or RISC OS 2 ROMs were 28 pins but the 4 Mbit RISC OS 3 ROMs were 32 pins. The 4-8 MB upgrades are rare, but at least Atomwide made one as well as Simtec (http://acorn.chris...

All I can say is Phew!

Glad I chickened out and went to bed, otherwise I could be £3,000 or more poorer!

Really wanted an ARM evaluation system for Chris's Acorns.

Let's hope another one comes up for auction now people know the potential price and then I can get the third one for £250

Nobody else has shown any interest in the A3000 TRM, so it is yours for the postage.

Postage is the same as for the A4 TRM. I hope that arrived safely and was what you needed.
