Re: New hardware suggestion - Pi econet server

RISC OS Pi still has the Econet code in it and even prints "Econet hardware not found" at every boot!

Re: Proud new owner of A3020 but with a rough start

The RiscOS desktop applications seem very familiar to the MacOS ones. The other way round of course, as RISC OS did it years earlier :D Rather than using SparkPlug, you might want to try the read-only version of SparkFS from here - https://www.riscosopen.org/content/downloads/common It turns archiv...

Re: ABUG Cambridge Sept 7th-9th 2018 BOOKING THREAD

I have only just realised that we are part of "Acorn World" again :) http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/det/43277/Acorn-World-Exhibition-8th-9th-September-2018/ Does that mean they will have extra exhibits out in the main hall again? That could change the space requirements in the classroom, e.g. I...

Forgot to say that the slides from the meeting are on the website - http://rougol.jellybaby.net/meetings/2018/jun.html ...although they don't have a lot of detail! Now that the move to Qt has been done, it means they don't have to develop two user interfaces (Window/Linux) for everything. I guess th...

Re: yet another Canadian …

Do you have any plans to buy a real Acorn machine, or are you enjoying emulation? I think I'll stick with emulation for now, thanks. b-em works quite well, and I have so many Raspberry Pis around the place that emulation just seems to happen. I hope you have RISC OS (Pico or full blown) on at least...

I'll be there for all three days, but won't need much space, probably spend most of the time marvelling at what everyone else has been up to! (assuming I don't end up fixing SparcStations and VR systems in the main museum again  ) For Saturday night, I can highly recommend the Wrestlers on Newm...

Hopefully someone will video the presentation and post it on you tube for all to see. Great news, see you tomorrow! Can you bring the video of your LED cube that you showed at ROUGOL last month? I'd like to upload it to the website.

Thanks,

IIRC this was a number range bug in the installer that caused it to wrap if you had lots of memory. The counterintuitive solution was to reduce your free memory before running it!

The bad news is that the A9home was a rather beta test machine with a very beta test OS version, so your RISC OS experience is going to be a rough ride :-( Its USB setup does require manual fiddling as others have mentioned, and you'll probably find it will only deal with memory sticks/cards of less...
