Re: Beebug

A full collection of Beebug scans is now available at http://8bs.com/beebugmags.htm so I am wrapping up this project. I made it too complicated and other people got there before us.

Big thanks to all the volunteers who contributed.

Re: Beebug

Thanks for the kind offer, Bob. We do have scans of Vols 1 - 11 and Mark has Vol 12 too. The main requirement at the moment is for programming expertise, with experience of image processing an optional bonus. We need to develop routines to clean up and convert the thousands of pages of scans into ni...

Re: Beebug

Hi Dom, We're still working on the clean-up and don't have anything out there for the public yet. If you would like to join the team pm me. We haven't got Vol 12 scanned yet, so if you want to have a go at that please scan at min of 400 dpi (makes the clean up so much easier) and reduce to 256 colou...

Re: Beebug

LOL. Maybe you pressed harder. I was having problems with the gutter -- shadows and light text.

Well, my scanner doesn't save PNG files either, so I choose something neutral like TIFF and use IrfanView (on Windows) to reduce colour depth and resave as PNG.

Re: Beebug

Sorry to pip you to the post there, Martin. I think your scans are better than mine, too! By the way, I strongly recommend PNG rather than JPG for scans of text. You usually get a smaller file and there's no deterioration of the image that you get with JPEG around sharp lines. We'll hopefully get an...

Re: Beebug

Gerald,
I think you're going to be disappointed with the Wordwise article, which isn't a review, but I've scanned it for you anyway. You didn't mean the Fontwise review, did you?
These scans are very rough and ready. We hope to do better when we finish the work!

FREE Beebug mags (and some requests)

I have been trying to complete my Beebug collection recently, and in the process have acquired some 'swops'. As the bulk of my collection was donated to me, I am happy to offer my spares to anyone on the forum who might need them. In return, maybe you can help me plug the remaining gaps. Condition v...

Re: Beebug

Flibble, Thanks for coming forward! We have already scanned (but not processed) Vols 1 - 11 and are still on the lookout for Vol. 12. I don't know about the 'specials and indexes' though -- Mark? Scanning RiscUser is something we might be interested in, but would have to liaise with Richard Hallas, ...

Re: HD tv /source etc?

1. If the upscaler in your DVD player is better quality than the one in your TV -- and this is often the case -- then you should get better pictures through that HDMI cable. You may have to fiddle with settings in both machines to get that to work -- make the TV only use the native (input) resolutio...

useful for commands like *DISK!
Thanks

You can get little spray cans of switch cleaner that might do a better job than WD40. Failing that, *DISC works!

Re: Noisy Master 128 speaker problem

Hi, I can hear a lot of CPU hiss thru my Masters speaker. Especially in high rez mode 0. Any ideas how I could fix this? - PJ You know, I used to be able to tell what my Master was doing: whether it was busy or idle or if it had hung and needed a Ctrl-Break. I thought I had spent so long with it th...

Oh dear. I seem to have got the wrong idea entirely and uploaded a photo of myself. I thought it would help people recognise me at shows. Did it just before the RCM Day.

Must have worked. Everyone avoided me :(

Re: ADFS item selecter/menu system

Hmmm.. I have looked at NFS and have to say that I can not implement it at the moment. This because the disk data I have to read from the NFS is different from the ADFS. When I have figured this out I can implement this. How are you reading the filenames etc? Using legal calls or poking around in f...

Re: A disc organizer for ADFS

I guess you realise the program is for ADFS, not DFS. The bit you want to change is between lines 1310 and 1350. Are you wanting to be able to choose 0, 4 or 5 or just 4 or 5? 1. Change the message in lines 1310 and 1340 appropriately 2. Change 1320 to: IF INSTR("045",CHR$(temp)) V.temp:ldrive%=temp...

We have a project under way to scan all the Beebug mags and make them available on-line. No, I haven't, but I used to use it a lot in the old days. Which commands are you stuck with? Maybe yo could start to put together a little manual-ette or Quick Reference guide, and people could add to it as they make new discoveries.
