Re: Atom Virgin - gets one !!!

Yes, the white band is caused by the 60 to 50 hz converter. The screen refresh rate is normally 60 hz but the colourboard is 50 hz and freezes the screen to be shown at 50 hz causing the white band.

Re: Atom Virgin - gets one !!!

There are some pot meters on the colourboard ... you can read in the manual what they do .... VC1 is for the colour.

There is also a possibility to output RGB .....

Re: Atom Virgin - gets one !!!

The big capacitor on the keyboard side is not original and is added to stabilize a bad power supply I think. If you have a decent stable power supply, you don't need that capacitor. I find it dangerous to have the same connectors for power and video ....... Also C2 is out and the blue wire is connec...

Re: Atom Virgin - gets one !!!

If you install LK6 and LK7 then you can use a standard USB +5V power supply or another +5V power supply. You can desolder the regulators but that's not necessary.

Just be carefull to use the right polarity ,...

Re: Atom Virgin - gets one !!!

Nice catch ..... you have this: - Motherboard Issue4 - Acorn Colourboard - 6KB video RAM - 6KB user RAM - Floating point (IC21) - Utility ROM (IC24) - VIA (IC1) Missing: - Printerbuffer (IC50) - Bus buffers (IC2/3/4) - Bus buffer control (IC5) In fact if you don't print and don't want to use any exp...

Re: Atom UEF Archive

NIce ..... the Atom is standard 300 baud and all commercial programs were recorded at 300 baud. A few toolboxes supported 1200 baud but that was never used for publishing games, just for your own use. For the commercial games you need max 6KB USER RAM and 6KB VIDEO RAM (fully populated Atom with 211...

Nice job ... the most used utility ROM is PCharme. This rom has lots of nice extra commands, 1200 baud cassette routines and a nice program editor. It even has options to easy add your own commands. Using procedures and functions are also great. I use the program editor a lot for finding and changin...

Re: Atom UEF Archive

Yes, a TAP file consists of sequential ATM files which can also be 1 file. So if you copy one or more ATM files after each other and rename the output to TAP file, should work. TAP files are used in Wouter Ras his Atom emulator as a repository of ATM files. You select a TAP file and then you can run...

Re: Atom UEF Archive

There isn't a tool to convert TAP files to WAV files.
There is however a tool to convert an ATM file to a WAV file written by Charllie Robson called ATM2WAV

https://github.com/charlierobson/atom-tools

This works for MAME.

I can show you my new MPAGD game I'm working on with Leonardo Vettori. It is a Spectrum game and very big so maybe a smaller version or multiple parts can be written for the Atom and BBC.

Re: any interest in a character display with sprites?

Tricky,

AGD erases one horizontal line of the old sprite and then draws a horizontal line of the new sprite until all lines are done. This reduces flickering to max 1 hor. line which is barely visable.

Seems that there is a commandline version and a Windows version. The commandline version has a Linux port but I'm interested in the Windows version because it has a good GUI and is easy to use.
