Re: Anything like Exmon but on disc?

Finally, don't forget the Claus Dormann test suite if you're emulating a 6502. I'll have a nose. I'm nearly done with all the opcodes. So far I have probably 10x the amount of code in unit tests than I do in the emulator itself :D No idea what it will do yet, if it even runs. Will probably create s...

Re: Anything like Exmon but on disc?

Oh nuts! I didn't consider that.

Well, I think I've nearly debugged it now and got it working without going anywhere near actual hardware.

Re: Anything like Exmon but on disc?

I don't think a disassembler alone is going to cut it. I already have the disassembly, I want to confirm on actual hardware rather than an emulator the impact of the status register and program counter of certain operations. I've written a crude 6502 CPU emulator - just because, why not? And despite...

Anything like Exmon but on disc?

As title, I want to step through some simple 6502 assembler on real hardware and examine the status registers and program counter. I know I can do it with exmon (if memory serves) but was wondering if there is anything that can do it from disc without the need for a rom? My machine isn’t accessible ...

Re: ZX Spectrum next... Anybody backing ?

Ok, yeah, I didn’t realise it had been that long. This year is just flying by! [edit] on the pricing it would not surprise me in the slightest if they face a choice between a delay or a price increase. Only time will tell. I suppose the big difference this time round is that it’s only the pcb that’s...

Re: ZX Spectrum next... Anybody backing ?

I've not heard anything to suggest anything other than an August delivery still, but with everything that's been going on this year I think it would be more prudent to assume it will be later in the year at the least. I'm more concerned about the issue of price. Given the current silicon supply issu...

Mine died a long, long time ago. It’s still in the loft but without any schematics or service info the only place I can see it going is the bottom of a skip. Last time I tried to look at it, trying to measure voltage on it tripped the house mains. I ain’t going near it again!

Re: Looking for recommendations for a low('ish) cost gaming PC

True. There’s 2 key things here. Will 2nd hand suffice? And will integrated graphics suffice? If the answer to at least one of those is yes then it may still be do-able. If new, then a case, motherboard, cpu with integrated graphics, memory and storage is still going to be a stretch for the budget. ...

Re: Looking for recommendations for a low('ish) cost gaming PC

Sorry to say but a maximum budget of £500 doesn’t fit with building a gaming PC. Best bet would be a PS5 or XBox-X. Assuming you can find one. Xbox is marginally more available than PS5 but they’re both still rocking horse poop. Right now, £500 isn’t going to buy you a gaming capable graphics card a...

Re: Advice on fixing a ULA removal

One thing to be wary of with those Duratools is the racket they make! I used to have a Xytronics 960. Probably had it for nigh on 18 years before parts eventually became too difficult to bother with so it ended up in the great recycle bin in the sky. Got the wife to buy me one of those Duratools for...

Re: RGB to HDMI using a Pi Zero and a small CPLD

For the one or two other crazy guys like me that spent a couple of days in soldering the Harlequin 128 DIY kit (a great ZXSpectrum 128k clone, reengineered without the custom ULA!), i can confirm it works fine with RGBtoHDMI using same profile as for the +2/3A, but with RGBrgb (Spectrum) Part of me...

SD Card readerr without container file?

Did I completely dream this up, or is there now a new ROM in development (beta stage) that allows an SD card reader on the user port to be used with simple DSD / SSDs on the card direct without needing the container file?

[EDIT] Never mind - no sooner did I post that than I found it!!

Re: My new Beeb, is she deceased?

This Beeb is now back up and running incidentally. I offered to look at it FOC. It turned out to be the 245 buffer on the data lines so no amount of swapping chips about would have solved the problem. I'm guessing they're not socketed out of the factory (would be highly unusual for a logic chip) whi...

Well done - I missed that. I assume that I can fit a CR2032 with 4.7k resistor and 1N4148 diode in an A5000 ?

It's been on the bench in bits for far too long now and I need to get it back to it's owner :)

Will we still be able to use the xattr workaround? Not ideal, but better than nothing. If a new version isn't created then it won't be a problem as the existing version is already signed. The signature should be timestamped so it won't matter if my ID is renewed or not. If I don't renew it then I j...
