Re: IP over Econet, are there multiple implementations?

I have a recollection that there are two versions with DCI-4 driver useing a different one to the earlier ones (and I guess RISCiX).

another update. In order to speed up transfer (to not spend too long checking the pics every timerV) I have changed from IIC to SPI. It’s looking promising, although will need a redesign of the board.

If you don’t need the ClassNet stuff could you *unplug it or make a new ROM for that podule instead? It a bit cheeky of it fiddling with other settings, although I can add any it does it.

Funny you should mention that.

I have a copy of EconetA 4.05 (Acorn Computers / Design IT 1998) on my RiscPC.

Also "Advanced Level 4" .. I am not sure what was advanced about it compared to the normal one.

Re: SD to IDE adapter on RiscPC?

Without sounding like a broken record, you need to patch ADFS . I think there's an updated ADFSUtils in the ROOL System Resources to patch it properly, going by Phlamethrowers last comment. Ah that sounds like what I need.. although is there a boot strapping issue of loading the patched version fro...

Application accelerator

Found this on my hard drive recently. Does anyone know much about it? It was with the AUN stuff, I presume to be a faster way to load applications than over NetFs.

We used AppFS back in the day which I might have somewhere too!

SD to IDE adapter on RiscPC?

Anyone had any success with these? I have a cheapo eBay one but it wouldn’t let me format the disc. It works on a USB to IDE thing on my Linux box but of course that’s a totally different beast!

I could just get something else of course, it only cost a few quid!

I once got a ST506 drive going by spinning by hand to get it going at which point the motor could keep it going. It worked long enough to copy everything off.

I have my RiscPC setup like that, I don’t use the CD ROM much but I think it works! Think I set it to master.

How old or new are the drives? The RIscPC IDE interface was a bit picky IIRC.

Interesting. If you are looking for feature-creep, can I suggest joystick support? You could probably use most of USBJoystick for the HID-to-SWI stuff. This isn't entirely serious. I have done nothing with USBJoystick itself for a long while! But it could be a bit of polish for a rainy day... The P...

What’s the alternative keyboard header do? I don’t recall the the 3010 having a socket for one but it’s a long time since I saw one. It's a header where you can connect an alternative keyboard. Progress - I've added the second PIC so it can now talk to TWO devices :) The LEDs change colour depending on what's plugged in - purple for keyboard and green for mouse :) On the downside - the podule talks to the PICs over I2C, which means it's spending a lot of time in IIC_Control which runs with...

I blew away the fluff and gave it a wipe down with IPA on kitchen roll. Reassembled and all working fine. Many thanks...

I’m hoping it will work on anything with a podule connector but have been developing it on a risc pc.

Still a work in progress - more software to do, and at least one PCB error to fix (mine).

The A540 could have 16MB, and that came with RO2. I have a feeling it was maybe 2.01 to support the extra memory, but not 100% sure.
