We got a 480Z (metal case) in what must have been around 1982/3, very quickly followed by a BBC Micro.

Re: Acorn Electron fan, just joined

I have an old Atom and an Archimedes A410 as well. Hope to find them soon in my loft. Do they require any special care before switching them on after a few decades? How about an old b/w or color TV? Kazzie's told you what to look out for in those, but I'll elaborate a little :) There are a couple o...

I confess, as an elk user in the 1980s I never considered it to be a reference to the BBC Master. It was just what the 64k shadow ram board was called...

Re: A potential run of BeebSCSI 7.7 (the newest)

Hello - yes, I can add you to the bottom of the list but be warned, I'm not necessarily going to get down that far. I'm just finalising components/prices and trying to make sure that everything I want is actually in stock in one place (it becomes a pain when you have to go to multiple suppliers).

Re: Best SD card disk drive for the beeb

You're missing the most flexible, compatible and one of the cheapest (if you DIY) - the gotek with flashfloppy firmware. https://github.com/keirf/FlashFloppy/wiki ADFS does stay at E00 on the master, but frankly it's not much cop for playing games as pretty much everything is designed to run from DF...

It's a straight dither - you can see it in beebem. Your display hasn't the fidelity to distinguish the individual pixels.

Yup, the cap's the right way around on your picture - VSS is next to where it says "Acorn A3010". Pin 1 is marked by the circle on the silkscreen for the ICs - so those should be at the end that says "front".

Re: BBC Model B upgrades

The modern ram/rom solutions are far less power hungry and more flexible than the old 16 ROM boards - especially with an issue 3 I'd go that route. No need for gotek *and* MMC, and seeing as you've already got a disk interface installed I'd just go with the former as it's much more flexible. Many pe...

Should do, yes. Or you can use any PC floppy drive (you might have to change the jumper - sometimes a 0ohm resistor - to make it drive 0 though!)

Flips this boolean to false:

Code: Select all

bool telnet = true; // Is telnet control code handling enabled
which disables telnet control codes :)
- this didn't cause an issue originally, so I'm assuming something changed on the telstar end of things?
