I've snaffled the arm switcher board off him, so I suspect you could ask for a bit to be knocked off :)

Pro is overkill - no need. The thing uses hardly any power. These are fine: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-Enel ... B00JVV8PS8

Re: Wanted: DNFS ROM (and Maybe Hi-BASIC)

If usability is a driving factor over nostalgia, have a look into Gotek Floppy Emulators with the flashfloppy firmware installed on them. You can stop using media that falls to bits and just use a USB stick/SD card instead :)

Re: Wanted: DNFS ROM (and Maybe Hi-BASIC)

I'd say an eprom was pretty original :D -> quite frequently things would be distributed on those instead of mask ROMs. Retroclinic will furnish you with ROMs at a reasonable price. Re. HiBASIC - I think most people loaded it off disc on the beeb, as it just gets copied from ROM into the RAM of the s...

They're PLCCs, so a Plcc remover is the tool for job!
See Paul's website here: https://www.retro-kit.co.uk/page.cfm/co ... 3-upgrade/

And here's a tool:

Do you want me to bring your beebscsi there rather than post it on Tuesday(ish)?

I've 65C02'd mine, and stuck in new ROMs (you can use 27C128s double programmed, they work fine :) )

Re: Apple IIe & Disk II with issues

With regard to 2, 3 and 4: 2. These have usually gone pop. I'm going to look at replacing mine with a green LED rather than the little bulb that's normally in there. 3. Dirty keyswitch. Usual protocol applies - they can be opened and cleaned, they are a little delicate though so be careful! 4. Big f...

Re: Gotek Floppy Drive wirting problem

What type of DFS/Floppy interface have you got in the machine if it's a BBC B, or is it a Master? And what does your ff.cfg say? Might just be dirty connectors. Also, was it a retroclinic one? If so and it's not behaving I'd get in touch with Mark, he's very good about getting things back up and run...

Re: Battery replacement A3010

Neutralising needs doing with white malt vinegar. What you need depends on what arrangement you want - I'd recommend something "off board", either a varta mempac on flying leads or an eneloop aaa in a holder. If it's Wakefield and someone's got the soldering gear with them no one's going to charge :...

Snip it out before you bring it. If there are any crystals/green on the board it'll need neutralising/rinse in distilled water.

Re: Battery replacement A3010

If it's leaked at all onto the board then we can't do it at Wakefield. The clean up really needs to be done somewhere where you can rinse well and let things dry off properly. Wakefield isn't suitable for that. If it's already removed and all been cleaned up with vinegar and washed with distilled wa...

Yes, I think that's probably the easiest way - not sure how best to do it though off the top of my head. Probably a method with an emulator to preserve the file type information?

To be honest, I've just made a small hole behind the gap and hooked the spring through there but that was the first one that came to hand.
