Re: Solidisk PC-Plus

Accommodate what having moved? I have a PC-Plus - I didn't think the ROMs were any different to the "later" ROMs for the 80186?

Thanks, I have asked them if they would split it out? just on the off-chance.
If you're after a plus 1, give Dave Hitchins a nudge when he's back from abug. He often has them for sale.

btw, how do the membrane tales on the keyboard look? They could probably do with a clean too given the state of the connector?

Well done, that looks heaps better. See how you go when it's turned on - I'd be slightly concerned about some of those lines to the keyboard connector, the one that runs nearest LK7 looks like it might have a break in it, but it's so hard to know without testing with a meter! :)

It's fine in practice. It really does require a long press to flip images, you won't do it by mistake. It can be set to remember the last used image on switch-on, which is very handy.

So, this thing is bloody brilliant. 8 configurations on the Master, ctrl-break to switch. Remembers last setting. No knobs, switches or holes. :) Upload images over USB from a serial terminal with minimal fuss. What's not to love?

Re: Acquired an A3010 today - help needed

Gently lever alternating ends up with a small screwdriver a little bit at a time so they don't ping out and bend the legs. Circuit diagrams are just showing you what should be connected to what. Match up the components on the board with the ones on the diagram, then you're going to use a multimeter ...

Avoid the PSU, remove the ROMs. If the underside isn't corroded don't worry about it. Tilting away from the PSU should avoid things going where you don't want them! Once the vinegar has come into contact with the battery leak, any dribbles should be neutral or acid, but just make sure they're well w...

Really no need to dilute (this is a common Internet myth that sprung up over the last couple years...) . Use neat white vinegar. I'd really advise not to use lemon juice, it's full of sugar and other rubbish. No need to add other contaminants to the board :D If you have citric acid powder by all mea...

Re: high density disks

As per the beginning of this discussion, I think it goes back to whether or not they were completely blank from the start. Trying to format DD over something originally formatted HD appears to be the source of most issues. But basically, YMMV without modifying the controller.

Re: Open source firmware for Gotek floppy emulator released

You can set the behaviour of pins 2 and 34 in the ff.cfg file if it's not doing what you want:
https://github.com/keirf/FlashFloppy/wi ... ation-File

However, it should work out of the box pretty much - I know Simoni is happily using one on an original Arc.

Re: Tape - MMSD CARD

The ROM image is probably corrupted, the fix is to reinstall. If that doesn't work its time to try other things. That's the one and only thing you need to try to do at this point.

(and to prevent it in the future, make sure you've backed up what's on the ABR as originally suggested :))
