Re: Compukit UK101

Looking at my list of programs from viewtopic.php?f=45&t=6623&p=64822#p68580 - I never got round to completing.

Is there anything from that list that anyone would like uploaded?

Re: Acornsoft Maze

The Acornsoft version seems by far the best of the ones available for the BBC. I solved my original problems with the security tags.

Re: The Rainbow Book of BASIC programs : Roadrace

The oversight is that they should be using X1 for the value of the kerb position (they are using A which is the kerb in 4 rows time). The part of line 240 should be
IF B>X1 AND B <X1+5 THEN...
so that the game is checking the piece of kerb on the same row as the car.

Re: Computer Concepts Graphics ROM User Guide (Remastered PDF)

that is very good scanning.

Out of interest which is the best graphics ROM for the BBC? I think there are three altogether? (and a number of cassette based packages)

Re: artificial intelligence on the BBC and Electron

The books are all but identical. Some small programming differences in the listings: i.e. Procedures and INSTR. The page numbers are out because the BBC book has pages i-viii for the Intro and the BBC's book page 1 is the Commodore book's page 9. From there the pages match page for page (excluding c...

Yes it is - I checked a few pages and they are identical in every respect - will go through and see if there are any differences.

Will let you know what I find.

The Rainbow Book of BASIC programs : Roadrace

Going through some old listings I typed-in back in 1985 from this book. However looking at it today I can see a bug/error/oversight in the printed listing (not the subroutines) that I never realised before.

Can you see what it is yet?

Re: Acornsoft BCPL, MicroPROLOG manuals?

Has a micro-Prolog manual been found? Seems very rare! Has anyone here used the Acornsoft micro-Prolog and got any example program? Its a logic type language, I grabbed this from an introduction to prolog online: eats(fred, pears). eats(fred,t_bone_steak). eats(fred, apples). So far we have only been ...

Farmyard Fun

iamaran was asking me about Farmyard Fun so I had a look: He pointed out a bug so I had a look and attached is ver 1.2 with a couple of corrections. I was also asked for some guidance. I haven't played it all the way through recently but here are some help. You can only carry two objects but you can...

Thinking it through this is the change that is required to cover the case where the chest is dropped somewhere other than onto the rocks:

78IFOB=25 THEN D(6,5)=3:IF L=5 THEN PRINT"The chest crashes down to the rocks below and smashes open!":O(25)=1:O(40)=1:GOTO31

I am stuck trying to sort out the treasure chest. I don't know what the "TRO" in line 188 is and why I need to shoot it. You don't! 1.png Here's my latest version of the listing, incorporating the changes from my earlier post, above : Lighthouse_Adventure.txt  Yes I have completed it now........

Have you typed in -- or are you planning to type in -- any of the other listings from that book? I've found the disk-image with the listings already typed in and I've worked out how to export the listings to a text file via a (rather old) TRS-80/CoCo emulator. Let me know if you want a particular l...

Evening, Here are some clues: Search the dead smuggler. Don't drink from the bottle. The gun only needs to be used once. You can't cut anything. Who is Marple? The treasure chest is too heavy to "GET". Examine the fireplace twice. The "SEARCH" command is a bit confusing. In all cases except one "SEA...

Re: Lighthouse Adventure

Me and my typing ! That explains why I was so perplexed!

There were in fact a number of errors in the listing in the book. There appeared to be something off with ELSE statements, so I rewrote the two in question so it was clear what was intended.

Also I discovered you can GET FLINT from the ROCK.
