Re: Galaforce Disassembly

I probably will disassemble something else in the future, bit busy with work at the moment though.

You never know I might one day release an updated emulator too :) It must be around 20 years since I first release it...

Galaforce Disassembly

Kevin gave his blessings for me to post this, and he also said the game is 30 years old in September - I'm sure that makes everyone feel much better and not at all old!

I am interested how my labelling of things differs from his...

Re: The Savestate thread!

Many years ago I manage to reach about Level 255 on Chuckie Egg on my Electron, I just played it one Sunday and kept going and going, and coming back to it and got to Level 255 then it crashed on me, but I don't recall 2 ducks flying about. I converted chuckie egg years ago, and then experimented a...

Re: Fortress Scrolling

Oh I did quite a few including:

Chuckie egg (you can find this on bagshot row)
Citadel
Galaforce (I even rewrote this in c#/opengl - completely works - pixel perfect conversion, just no sound)
Knightlore
Jetpac
Wizadore

If I feel generous I may even stick them online one day :)

Re: BBC Micro Transfer Data Issue

The easiest way to get a cable in my experience is just get a modem lead from the beeb, 5 pin domino to 25 pin rs232, then just plug that into a pc null modem lead. 25/9 pin to 25/9 pin. No soldering needed :)

Re: My Beeb is dying :(

I assume then that IC6 has the large heatsink on it? Yes it does although the glue seems to be long turned to solid Link S26 is unlikely to be a problem then but just for completeness check that it's fitted accross the left and centre pins of the three, i.e. West. Yes it is. When you press break the...

Re: My Beeb is dying :(

Thanks for the offers of another beeb, I do have another somewhere in the loft - I think (but it's not a 1770 - this is the one I have had for most of my life!).

I will have a mess with the IC this weekend, and let you know, thanks :)

My Beeb is dying :(

Has anyone else ever has this problem (its maybe been like this a year or more I just never noticed)

If you go out of mode 7, all the colours are screwed up, the black background is now red etc. Anything other than mode 7 is red...

Any ideas ?

Cheers

Re: Beeb not 'hearing' tapes...

The are always the simple things we had to do way back :)

The old favourite of adjusting the volume level up/down till any kind of tape messages appear. Setting the volume level usually fixes things...

Then very occasionally adjustment of the tape head with a small screw driver.

Re: RS232 transfer BBC <>PC (XFER or other?)

I always found that I could transfer beeb -> pc, with an RS423-RS232 lead, but it would never seem to talk the other way around. I just assumed it was to do with the 5V and 12V differences... If you need a lead to do join the two, the easiest way to do it, is to get a normal bbc to modem lead, which...
