Haunted House (Usborne)

Line 2010 CANDLESTICK is misspelled. I'm not just being picky - it prevents the published walkthrough from working!

Re: Unfinished Text Adventures

I think Demon Knight is another game that should be considered unsolved on the Beeb because CASA's solution doesn't seem to work in the Beeb version. :?: When you water the garden, the response is "everything is growing" but no tree grows for you to climb later. The previously created puny shoot sh...

Battlechess isn't something I want, I had it on the Amiga, fun to watch the animations but that was it.
A bit late now, but Battlechess does have a 2D mode without the battles.

Re: Unfinished Text Adventures

Very strange! I've put a bug-warning on the download page on bbcmicro.co.uk, and I'm inclined to leave it at that because I don't think it's worth trying to fix this bug: AC's behaviour seems to be so unpredictable that we can't be sure that fixing this bug won't inadvertently create new bugs somew...

Re: Unfinished Text Adventures

I freed up some memory by reducing the room descriptions to single words and resaved it. It works fine. So I think that the MOVE TO 0 problem has been introduced by having a larger than standard data file.

The bread should also be destroyed in the lake, but interestingly I can get the global if I let that happen.

Re: Unfinished Text Adventures

That indeed solves the problem. I wonder whether that's a feature of AC - moving an object to 0 doesn't reduce the weight the player is carrying.

Re: Unfinished Text Adventures

I think I've found the problem! If you don't drop the letter before swimming in the lake it is destroyed in the water. If you do drop it beforehand, you can get the gobal, so it looks like there may be some issue with the "weight" of your inventory if it's destroyed instead of you dropping it. The a...

Re: Unfinished Text Adventures

Just finished Quest for the Gobal. Didn't really enjoy it and so I'm doubly annoyed that I didn't get a perfect score! I'm not even sure it is possible to score 100% as I have to drop one of the three keys in order to pick up the Gobal, losing 10 points. If anyone fancies having a quick look to see ...

Re: Alien from Outer Space, at least two issues. Is it solvable?

Yeah, I don't blame you.
The bugs are a real shame because the premise is a good one. There are lots of objects in very few locations so could have been a nice, tight game.

Alien from Outer Space, at least two issues. Is it solvable?

I actually bought this back in the day, but never got very far. Anyway, every version I've tried gives "ERROR IN ADVENTURE" when typing the command GET BEER FROM LARDER in the kitchen. From the start: N N E N E D E E E OPEN LARDER EXAMINE IT GET BEER FROM LARDER The game was written using GAC, so lo...

Is the inventory limit a simple 5? If so I'm afraid I may have found another bug.

So, a spare going to anyone who want it for the price of postage. Unfortunately I can't guarantee it'll work, but got to be worth the risk for a couple of quid.

Which 6845?

I thought I'd have plenty of time to learn how to fix my Issue 3 BBC A->B during lockdown but this hasn't happened and spare time has proved to be as elusive as ever. Anyway, in my box of bits is a 1J1 HD46505SP HD6845SP and in the machine is a 3G3 HD46505SP HD6845SP. Does the 1J1 versus 3G3 mean an...

Re: Beta Tester(s) wanted for Text Adventure (Follow-up to SIGMA Experiment)

I was doing well in the early hours of yesterday morning, but had to sleep and didn't think I'd get chance to pick it up again this weekend. I unexpectedly found a couple of hours this morning and got absolutely nowhere. Then a sneaky 15 minutes this aft and, just like a good crossword, 2 hours of s...
