Re: Missing BBC Games HELP REQUIRED!
I checked the wav in cooledit and the frequences are 1700Hz and 3534hz - assuming they are supposed to be 1200Hz and 2400hz I stretched the wavs by x1.47 and x1.5 and made CSWs that I tried to load into b-em - it did pick up the block name as 'FLAGS' but had many errors.

Re: British Garden Birds
Hi,
Here's a 80 track DFS disk of the bird descriptions.
The original dump seems to miss some subpages and just repeat an earlier page so I've marked some pages as missing.
I think each bird should have 3 subpages.
The later dumps appear to just have the subtitle pages.
Enjoy!

Re: British Garden Birds
Hi, Here are the frames from disk#2 - nothing too interresting - just more subtitles. I noticed there's a number of index pages missing from disk#1 between P173-184, which I've managed to 'recreate' locally but I obviously don't have the actual original frame numbers to use, also p185 (order of appe...

Superb!! - Thanks for posting it - I'm just watching it now.... Hey it's got David as well! His voice always brings to mind a cave full of bat dung to me! That's a terrific picture for composite video. If you don't know much about Laserdisc (I didn't) Techmoan has an informative video about it: http...

Re: British Garden Birds
Hi There, Thanks a lot for that BeebMaster- Terrific Stuff! I'm not familiar with that disk format but I managed to extract all the teletext frames by doing a binary dump (Frame#1 begins at offset 0x6300 for instance) - they have bit 7 set but otherwise are in normal mode7 format. I've attached all ...

So I opened up my Master up again today and here's a photo: power.jpg From sprows site it smells like this: (and it still actually works!) http://www.sprow.co.uk/bbc/howto.htm#powersupply Leaking or smoking filter capacitor During normal operation an acrid burning smell comes from the power supply v...

Re: Composite video from the BBC
The Master actually sort of worked! There was no link present (I guess it's issue #1) so I tried the transistor to transistor bridge method master.JPG with a 50v 470pF capacitor... 50v.JPG The result was a 'hint' of color - maybe the probe wires were too long I'm thinking - but everything is SO smal...

Re: Composite video from the BBC
Thanks for the document and picture - very helpful - I actually have a Master 128 and a Model-B - I'll have to open them up to see what mother boards they have got. Do you think my 'tape a bare wire' across the link is a sensible idea? What I really need is some sort of conductive Plasticine... Wow ...

Composite video from the BBC
Hi There, Amazing I think I have never used the composite video output from the BBC until last week! Once I got myself a BNC to RCA adapter (BNC - isn't that what 1970s networks cables used?) I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the signal and the fact that RGB and composite output at the sa...

Burning Plastic Smell - Master power supply?
Hi There, So I'd left my Master on all day yesterday and came home to a burning plastic smell ! I opened it up and nothing obvious looked damaged but the smell was coming from the power supply area. Has anyone got any suggestions what I might do to fix it? Can you power a BBC from a modern external ...

Well spotted! Yes - it's actually a Windows version of Frak! I'd written - there's a few subtle changes - like the palette if you look closely - so it really is widescreen!

Hi There,
I Love your mode7 stuff - could you post edit.tf links for them so I could transfer them to a real BBC?
Also that VR gallery program looks awesome - the perfect blend of modern technology meets old school! - my VIVE is ready and waiting to test that!

Re: Adventure by Bob Anderson
Bob Anderson wrote a different game called 'Cosmonaut' that appears on the Beebug Cover disk 3-10.
I found no other reference to him.
By the way do you have OCRs of the Beebug magazines?

NuLA - A 'softer' palette for games
Hi, Here's a program that sets the base 8 colors to a 'softer' version - much easier on the eyes! It's Basic so you can change it to set your own favourite palette. You run this program first and then run the game of your choice and it will automatically pick up this new palette until you power down...
