Re: Yet another "what's that game?" thread...

There's a pair of games on steam called Puzzler World 1 and 2. They have a mixture of puzzles like crosswords and sudoku and one of them is like you describe, but the images that you colour are just random shape mosaics. There are three colours and you have to fill in the image in about 30 seconds w...

Re: Albert's House (1985) BBC Micro - Gameplay video request

I tried it on BeebEm last year and it was a bit crashy so I'm not up for recording a playthrough but I took some screenshots:

Trying to Find a Mode 7 Game

Trying to find a game for someone:

* Mode 7
* Think it's a school game
* Featured a ship with moving sails"
* Apparently looked a bit Granny's Garden
* Couldn't find it on bbcmicro.co.uk

Skirmish or Joust. Also two-player mode on Zenon was fun. The only other two-player game I enjoyed was Flip! which was turn-based.

Bouncing Babes

There's a semi-obscure game for the beeb I'd love to find called "Bouncing Babies". I've seen an inferior version for DOS. It might have a different name on the beeb but I don't think so. It involves babies flying out of a window in a burning building, and you control two fireman holding a gurney be...

Re: Unused Citadel bits

(Sorry to spam) I'm looking at that hacked Citadel image with the screen browsing.. looking at the platform move I wonder I've noticed another characteristic that MAY be unique to it - when they're moving down and touch the floor their movement terminates at an irregular Y offset instead of when it'...

Re: Unused Citadel bits

Speaking of that splash effect... have you tried rendering that other mystery sprite that you thought was probably a discarded splash effect, but with different width? A new, more obvious shape/pattern might emerge like with the crystal..?

Re: Unused Citadel bits

Only the platform tile has byte[1] bit 4 set? I thought you meant those two-colour platforms and I thought it accounted for that mysterious splash effect. Moving platforms? Maybe it's to make it respond to levers..? Or like... maybe it means, since they respond to levers, fewer things can be taken f...

Re: Citadel Disassembly / Reassembly v0.1

During the update wave when you gave me the sprite images I felt like making a Citadel editor (for Windows, not the Beeb, but in Beeb style) and designed like half of a game map with updated graphics. Triangle cut-outs, background layer, overlay layer and stuff. I knew I'd not make a finished game o...

Re: Repton Overture Finally Finished

I've updated to the latest version, but it has not fixed the "crash on custom level" problem. This happens if you play the level "properly" or use the playtest facility within the editor. It must be something to do with the level they have created, I presume. I'd email you the level file, but I can...

Re: Repton Overture Finally Finished

You can just overwrite (don't delete first) everything in the old folder with the new stuff and it'll preserve their map and highscores and everything. The only problem, like I said, is that if they're in the middle of a playthrough then their progress will be lost if you overwrite with the new "Gam...

Re: Repton Overture Finally Finished

Yeh pretty much, and the "Media" subfolder because there's a new wall-set (and possibly other stuff) and if media is missing it'll report the error and quit. Oh and overwrite "Games/Overture.ro" for the final fixed puzzle, but if they're in the middle of another playthrough its best to leave it sinc...

The last build was on the 21st. I've gotten rid of what I hope was the last crashable bug since the 18th.

Re: Repton Overture Finally Finished

Serious bug: The children have designed a bit of one level, and they have loaded it in order to test it. It loads OK, and runs for a short while (about 15 seconds), before the whole application crashes with this error message: Have you tried downloading the new version? I've fixed some nasty random...

Re: Repton Overture Finally Finished

Woa, there's no way I could have finished it at that age. I had to update that one puzzle again (twice) because I found another easy skip, and I didn't announce the update since the number of my oversights regarding one puzzle was getting silly. I can't imagine the finished version would have slowed...
