Re: Best 2 player games?

Fully echo the Skirmish shouts.

Also:
Indoor Sports (mainly for table tennis and air hockey)
Grand Prix Construction Kit (we used to design half a track each)
Graham Gooch’s Test Cricket

I never tried Spy vs Spy but heard good things about it.

Re: Educational Archive not in STH

There were some disks I didn't sent on that were labelled with people's names I didn't recognise. Not sure of the nature of those disks, presumably things like CVs etc, but on the other hand I know some of those in the YTS were pretty good at coding (and one or two were absolute demons at cracking p...

Re: Educational Archive not in STH

Some of that might be a mixture of my sister (Elaine) and Mum’s (she’s about to be 81) files - some of it should be related to a YTS group that my ex-brother-in-law used to look after.

Re: Educational Archive not in STH

I’m basically useless for copying and scanning purposes, as my tape deck and disk drive are buried in the left, and my scanner refuses to work with Windows 10.

Will send all these on, hopefully Fri or Sat this week.

Meanwhile, these caught my eye. There may be the odd PC disk in here (World Class Leaderboard probably proves that), but anything leaping out as being of specific interest? 1AD02175-9DAC-4719-B523-EAD29FC97D0F.jpeg BF507C3A-D70F-46C3-B736-F954145C34E7.jpeg 5A9107B8-F4C7-497F-8EFF-206C3CEF0C6E.jpeg

Re: Educational Archive not in STH

Am getting tied in knots with the archive. Thought more Acornsoft/Ivan Berg titles were in there, but I’m struggling to find them (admittedly I’ve been in the loft for two hours and am slightly out of it). In front of me are: Revise GCE/CSE English Mathematics 1 Mathematics 2 Biology Crime & Detecti...

Re: Text Adventure Games

I could never be doing with any text adventures where I had to write things down. Which, to be fair, probably explains why I had such a troubled relationship with the genre. Incidentally, how come the Electron version was so pared down compared to the Beeb? The Electron User review says it has 100 f...

Re: Text Adventure Games

Was it Oxbridge where one of the puzzles meant you had to move as if you were a knight in chess, so as to check off every space on a chessboard?

I think I saw that in one of the reviews, and that may have been the youthful point I realised that one person's idea of fun isn't necessarily mine.

Well I have mixed news. The bad news is that I've just come here to find I've been inadvertently been bidding against my comrades. I was going to post that there was a lovely haul of MIA titles that unfortunately I've just missed out on. The big last few seconds' jump was down to me, I'm afraid. In ...

Re: Most disappointing conversions from other systems

I think the most disappointing thing for me as a Beeb and Electron user was some of the games that were converted, when players were crying out for versions of massive arcade titles. Predator, two years after the film. The Timothy Dalton Bond film licences. Hostages, a game I hadn’t heard of until t...

Re: HSC - S2 - Champions Choice -Arena 3000

I seem to remember Beeb-Em struggled with the simultaneous moving and firing at times, particularly diagonally. Has been a while though. Without that working well, a hard game becomes even harder. Very pick up and playable though, this one. So, so, simple, but tons of fun.

Re: Educational Archive not in STH

Massively unexciting, but I notice that the Ivan Berg/Acornsoft Revise GCE/GCSE English isn't in the archive. I'm looking at a copy here.

Also, the Supermarket title that I've just started a thread on in the Games subforum may end up being more appropriate here. Anyone familiar with it?
