Re: BeebEm Mac - Info

I don't know anything about storyboard, Swift or Objective C but if you want to contact me personally, I will try and answer any questions you have about how things fit together at the moment.

Re: Writing basic on Raspberry Pi and converting to .dsd?

Try http://www.g7jjf.com/public/PIDFSExplorer.zip.

I haven't actually tried it on a PI yet but the X86 version works on desktop stretch.

Please let me know how you get on.

Thanks,

Jon

Re: Writing basic on Raspberry Pi and converting to .dsd?

If it is of any use, I have a version of my DFS Explorer program which runs natively on the PI. I can provide a download link if required.

Re: BeebEm Mac - Info

I have always included the source code as part of the distribution so have no problems putting the latest code on GitHub.

I just don't have the time or skills anymore to upgrade BeebEm to 64 bits.

Let's hope someone else will take on the task of keeping BeebEm alive in the future.

Re: BeebEm ADFS hard disk - accessing files

TUNES DLR(04) says this is a Directory, the D attribute.

Do a *DIR TUNES to change to the TUNES directory, verify with *CAT to see the files in the TUNES directory.

You can then CHAIN"PLAY" and enter a tune filename, such as TOODLE, to play some music.

Re: Emulator information

The source for Mac BeebEm is based on the Carbon API's which were deprecitated yonks ago and are no longer shipped with the latest version of Mac OS. The get it to compile with a later version of Xcode would basically involve a re-write to use a more modern API which I don't have the time or inclina...

I no longer have a Mac so any development is done under vmware emulation. I will take a look and see what is possible. I have to do low level api calls on windows to access the cf card and I dont know if there are equivalent calls in Xojo basic which I used to write the Mac version. Leave it with me...

ADFS Explorer

After a request from a user, I have now added inbuilt support for CF Cards within ADFS Explorer. CF cards are used by the Model B or Master 128 Internal Compact Flash Hard Drive Kit (available from http://www.retroclinic.com/acorn/kitide1mhz/kitide1mhz.htm by Mark Haysman of RetroClinic). This means...

Re: BeebEm ADFS disc access bug?

The problem seems to be with the disc image.

The image is reporting as a double sided disc although the image is actually single sided.

Changing byte 0xfd of the image from 0x0a to 0x05 converts it back to a single sided image and BeebEm then works fine with it.

The code is in straight C using the Allegro libraries.

You can download the source and libraries by ftpping to g7jjf.synology.me

Log in as arculator, password riscos and the files are in the home directory.

I also have Sierra running under emulation but the source doesn't compile due to missing libraries and other stuff. Don't have time at the moment to sort this out but currently looking at getting an old Windows laptop running Snow Leopard rather than buy a mac mini.

Hi, Uploaded the patched version to my web site. Download from : http://www.g7jjf.com/download.htm I no longer have a Mac so development is being done under emulation. If you have a Mac Mini going spare which will run 10.6.8 and the latest 10.12.3, please get in touch if you want to sell it. Jon

If it is only BBC Basic you wish to emulate and not an actual BBC Computer, have you looked at BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0, available from :

I have also started to add the disc import/export feature but I haven't finished it yet. Importing a single file should work but that is as far as I have got yet.

Quickly on point 5, after making a recording, if you press Stop, this will refresh the tape control window. And it also does an automatic rewind so you can click the Play button and do a *. straight away to see what you have just recorded.

Re: Mac BeebEm3 - user-defined keyboard

After spending many hours trying to debug this problem, I have finally tracked it down to this statement :

Code: Select all

uef_file = gzopen(uef_file_name, "a+b");
in

Code: Select all

uef_write_chunk
For some reason, this fails post OSX 10.6.8

I don't know why yet or have a solution but I am looking into it.
