Re: A2 Posters: Elite, Zarch, Ravenskull, Codename Droid, Crazee Rider, Palace of Magic, Repton

Hi James, yes there are still plenty left - however I'm just waiting on Zarch to be reprinted, as there was a printing error on the first batch which I, erm, didn't notice when taking the photos! (see the discoloured pink blocks at the bottom of the Zarch photo). Anyway the reprints are due t...

I've got Fantasia Diamond but the second file is full of protection/continuous data stream. So probably like Birdstrike and The Hacker, it's nigh on impossible to create a uef from it.
Sorry for the delayed response, in that case would it be possible to get a WAV file of the recording?

Thanks everyone for the orders so far, that should be around £90 in the coffers for the Preservation fund to-date. Just waiting on some poster tubes to arrive, then I'll get the orders that are to be posted packed up over the weekend so they can be sent out early next week. Note I'm a bit behind on ...

Re: The iconic BBC Elite box screenshot, recreated

Is this the kind of thing you had in mind? It's currently formatted for A2 landscape - or were you thinking larger e.g. A1? You're kind of limited with regards to what you can do with the logo though, bearing in mind how little space is available... Can you think of anything that could go in the top...

A2 Posters: Elite, Zarch, Ravenskull, Codename Droid, Crazee Rider, Palace of Magic, Repton

I've finally got round to producing another short run of the "Impact" series of posters, which I've been promising to do for several years now! They are A2 in size and based on hi-res 1:1 scans I made of the original posters over ten years ago. They have been 'reframed' to remove the white text bloc...

Re: The iconic BBC Elite box screenshot, recreated

Slightly off topic (for ELITE) but regarding posters, would it be possible to have an EXILE poster with the fantastic  screenshot map and the logo from the box in the sky? Do you have the full screenshot map at original size with 8 colours? If so if you can email it across to me I can definit...

Re: The iconic BBC Elite box screenshot, recreated

Sorry for the delay, I didn't get around to scanning the logo from the ship chart until Thursday night - but, after Stew B neatly 'cut out' the logo for me, I've now been able to create a print-ready proof of the poster design. See below how the final poster will look when hung alongside the ship ch...

I've checked all four mags, found some info for BlockBusta and Klect but on first glance, no references to the other two games in the remaining mags.

I'll double check them before putting them away again, mind.

This is just another rough mockup, but if you're going to hang it alongside the ship identification chart, how about we replicate the exact scale/style of the chart, complete with 'overlapping' portion of the logo? Elite_example3.png Or would you prefer the screenshot to be entirely unobstructed? (N...

That looks spot on to me. :-) Ok noted, I'll consider it 'blessed'! Oooh, I like that! It's a bit more balanced than the one I've been toying with using the cover artwork. Looks great! I'd be very interesting in getting one of these printed, for sure. Yeah, the original artwork is really designed f...

Re: The iconic BBC Elite box screenshot, recreated

How about if I scanned the Elite logo from the poster identification chart at hi-res, and popped it above the remastered screenshot, to create a portrait A3 poster? (low-res mockup below). Elite_example.png I still have the hi-res scan I made of an original A2 Elite poster about 10 years ago ... tha...

Re: The iconic BBC Elite box screenshot, recreated

Nice work, I'm actually getting some posters printed this week - so could easily tag these onto the order to save postage costs. Few questions: - what size are you thinking exactly (you mention A3, but it's square rather than portrait/landscape), roughly 297mm x 297mm or 420mm x 420mm (I'm aware the...

Re: Acornsoft Breakout - early version

Thanks for the clarification, I've updated the first post to reflect.

Glad they dumped this feature in the final release, it's very distracting!

Challenge: can anyone further 'backdate' the code to a 'v0.1', that does away with the weird moving walls altogether?

Acornsoft Breakout - early version

The first episode of The Computer Programme (broadcast 11th January 1982) featured Chris Serle loading and playing a bat n ball game, which was actually an early version (v0.2 according to the REM Statements) of Acornsoft Breakout; released later in 1982 as part of the Arcade Action compilation. This is evidently an early or alternative version of Acornsoft's Teletext Invaders game, that has been lifted from the BBC's Computer Literacy Project archive of software that featured within their TV programmes. According to the listing, the game appeared in the Introducing Graphics episode of Maki...

Re: Games with problems

Hi Mick, I no longer have the original cassette but I believe Dave E (should he be reading) does, so perhaps you could ask him if he'd be willing to create WAVs for Col or Peter Van Ek to look into converting to CSW > UEF. Then we'd need to find a hacker to convert each version to SSD!

Re: Games with problems

I remember now, the Fantasia Diamond UEF was created from a copied tape, before I owned the original. At the time I would have assumed it was a tape-tape of the original, but it sounds like whoever recorded the cassette may have done a DISC HACK > TAPE transfer ... Anyway, don't worry - this really ...
