Wanted - Working BBC Master

I've decided to expand my Retro collection (its barely a collection really but...)
I've already bought a VideoNULA upgrade, so a BBC Master is needed to put it in if anyone has a good one spare?
Many thanks.

It seems I used the version of this that we used last time it featured in a High Score Challenge with the fixed High score table.

Re: How many versions of Frogger were there?

Sort of although I won't be doing a boring voiceover or commentary.
Just sort of show them each being played (and how bad I am at playing some of them!)
I dont like to slag off other peoples efforts since I can't really program myself, but some of them are stratospherically awful!
Cheers!

How many versions of Frogger were there?

Hi, Since we now have Trickys excellent version of Frogger, I started having a look at all the previous versions of it for the Beeb. I have the following versions: The Frog - Software for All Leapfrog - Model B Computing Hedgehog - Beebug/Elbug (not quite a frogger game but...) Froglet - Argus Press...

Re: BeebEm video capture problem with playback

Have you tried VirtualDub (it's an editor really, but also playes back), I use it to rescale my videos before posting on youtube as they need to be at least 720p to playback at 50Hz? The problem with VDub (good though it is) is that it uses only the encoders/decoders installed on the system. Same a...

BeebEm video capture problem with playback

Hi, I've been having this same problem with Beebem for some time now. Whenever I try to playback videos captured with Beebem, only the sound plays, i get no video. My player of choice is Media Player Classic Home cinema (latest version), but even if I try to load the video into TMPEG Video encoder 6...

I couldn't find the option anywhere and yet I'm sure I've had it working before...

Re: Most disappointing conversions from other systems

Going slightly off topic (well, everyone else has  ) is the BBC not very good at producing racing games?
I ask this because it never got ports of Outrun, ChaseHQ, both of which were done reasonably well on the humble Spectrum (well, maybe not Outrun but ChaseHQ was excellent.

Re: Most disappointing conversions from other systems

Not owing a C64 back then, and not having access to a C64 back then, I can't comment on, but do wonder if some BBC titles had the minimum work done to convert from the C64 versions. Mark Maybe, but I do think that Jet Boot Jack on the BBC is better than on any other system (Atari 8bit, Amstrad and ...

Re: Most disappointing conversions from other systems

For me, Atic Atac was one of those that was most disappointing on the Beeb. It just didn't seem right considering that it required a high number of colours and on the Beeb that meant MODE 2 with its fat pixels when compared to the Spectrum version. I'm also not normally a fan on the fat pixel Mode ...

Re: Most disappointing conversions from other systems

I think Paperboy, which is also an Elite conversion, could also be massively improved. I've sometimes thought about doing it but I was never a great fan of the original. Yes, I'd forgotten about Paperboy. The BBC version is definately bad, but some of the other home versions aren't great either. Th...

Most disappointing conversions from other systems

By that I mean disappointing compared to other 8 bit (or 16bit for that matter) versions. I'll kick off with Commando which I've just been watching on Youtube. (I've just had a play of it as well :( ) The BBC version is just so slow and has none of the gameplay that other versions (even the Spectrum...

Great! Hopefully itll be a general feature that can include some of your other remakes as well.
I vaguely recall that they missed your version of Carnival a while back as well, showing Acornsofts Carousel instead.

Re: New Acorn 8bit? Should there be one?

I'm sure that such a machine would be capable of some great looking and sounding games, but you'd still need a team of people to make just one game. You'd need a dedicated graphics artist for the graphics, a dedicated composer for the music and sound effects and a wizard programmer to tie it togethe...

Re: How best to connect Electron to a display screen?

I believe it is an issue 6 board. (Ill have toopen it up again to check though). I think the composite B/W output will be easiest to check it works properly. Then I can investigate the other option of maybe fixing composite to work in colour or go the Scart route if I can find a cable somewhere. Tha...

How best to connect Electron to a display screen?

Hi, In a moment of insanity I went and bought an Electron (even though I've always slagged them off, there's something quite pleasing about the appearance of the machine) a couple of weeks ago. Now I need to find a quick easy way to connect it to a display to see if it works. I have a modern Tv or a...
