Re: hi - another one

Hi,

I really liked this game BITD.
Choosing the right keys was always by biggest problem too.

Must have another go at it.
Cheers!

Re: what should i write next?

Kind of resurrecting an old thread, but would a port of Oids (Atari ST) be out of the question?

Re: Hi!

Welcome to the forums Tony. Thats a lovely looking Electron and cassette player there. No yellowing of the cases at all by the looks of it. Hope it all works ok (Mine has a dodgy keyboard at the moment) Welcome, what a great looking Elk and I've never seen the data recorder, but now I think I might ...

Here are my nominations:

Re: what should i write next?

It really does scroll beautifully doesn't it. With regards to the colours, am I right in thinking that things like the Ghosts, Fruit and Power pills will be made of foreground colours? (like the player sprite) Are the fire hydrants foreground also? If so, then they will lend a little more colour to ...

Re: what should i write next?

Its odd then. I've just slowed B-Em down as slow as it will go (about 10%) so I can see each frame being scrolled and it moves 2 Mode2 pixels each time it moves. The previous faster version does the same but scrolls/updates the screen twice as often. I'm using B-Em 2.1 [Massive edit post!] Ok, scrap...

Re: what should i write next?

Just had a look at this latest demo. It's odd, but this one works fine in Beebem... I thought looking at it that it scrolled fine for a walking speed Pacland, not dead smooth, but its really not that bad either (particularly if you compare it to something like Fantasy Zone on the MSX!), but then I t...

Re: what should i write next?

I've been trying my demo on a few machine/CRT combos and an not sure that this will work! I was hoping by making the screen the equivalent of 384 MODE 1 pixels wide that the edges would be hidden and that I wouldn't need to blank and draw half bytes on the edges of the screen like I have to for Ral...

Re: what should i write next?

[SNIP] PS The scroll is at running speed and as I just chopped my Scramble code about, it has the Scramble loading screen! PPS the display needs r3 support, so no LCDs and no beebem unless it is too smooth as it is  I just get a mess on the screen with Beebem (it doesn't scroll) With B-Em I ge...

Re: what should i write next?

Also, I know its not a shooter but have you considered do a port of Pac-Land? There's a fascinating thread about colourising the spectrum version on the WOS forum (started some years ago) that makes me wonder if its possible on the Beeb. https://www.worldofspectrum.org/forums/discussion/46130/pac-la...

Re: what should i write next?

Good to hear you're still working on it. Did you use Mode 5 or 2? Do you have any videos or demos available? It's mode 2 with background graphics by the very talented John Blythe. I've attached the latest stable version (no enemies but all the levels). Apart from the obvious things that are missing...

Re: what should i write next?

I did Scramble to prove that horizontal scrolling 1 MODE 1 pixel per frame is possible, but you can see the compromise with the landscape that was required to achieve this. Games that require 1 MODE 1 pixel per frame but can't use the Scramble technique (some are massive too): Fantasy Zone Nemesis ...

Re: what should i write next?

For more traditional ideas, Mappy? Mappy Arcade.png Dig Dug I'll mention again simply because I like it so much and The Mine is so awful a conversion of it. Commando needs a remade / much better version, like they did for the C64 recently. Paperboy also needs help, but to be honest, none of the 8bit...

Re: what should i write next?

Well this time, I'm sort of ready for you. But before I begin and just out of interest, whats stopping the R-Type port? Is it a legal thing or a technical hurdle? Re: what should i write next?

Where do I stand on Firetrack? Hmmm, I know its a great from a technical standpoint, but give me the choice of playing Lightforce (Speccy), Powerstrike (Sega), Quark (Acorn 32bit), Tyrian (DOS), 1943 (Arcade) (thats all my favourite top/down scrolling shootemup games by the way) or Firetrack, then ...

Always wanted to See a port of Quazatron by Hewson.
It was an isometric port of Paradroid for the ZX Spectrum.

That and Arcade Game Designer by Argus Pres Software (also ZX Spectrum)

Wanted - Working BBC Master

I've decided to expand my Retro collection (its barely a collection really but...)
I've already bought a VideoNULA upgrade, so a BBC Master is needed to put it in if anyone has a good one spare?
Many thanks.
