Finally starting to get the hang of getting past the acid drops.
Once through them, its not too bad.

Re: High Score Challenge Season 15 - Rd 2 - Creepy Cave
Slight improvement in score.
Once I get past level 6 (and those damned acid drops) its seems a bit easier to deal with the levels containing the birds.

It's really looking good.
Have you decided on the aim of the game (and a storyline) yet?
How much ram do you have left for hings like sound, attract screen, etc...?

Starting to improve a bit now.
I remember buying this bitd and being very frustrated with it. The feeling hasn't changed much...

Re: Asteroids emulator/source code port without the source
How on earth did I miss the release of this one? I've just had a quick play, it certainly looks the part. I thought at first that the bullets were firing too slowly, but then I see that they're firing just fine, but the firing sound doesn't keep up with the shots being fired. Its a little off-puttin...

Re: Alternate universe: BBC Model C (64k, console)
I never understood what Acorn thought they were doing with the Electron.
They took away everything that made the Beeb great (sound, graphics, speed) and didn't fix the one thing that was needed, more RAM!
I feel sure that if it had had these 4 things it would have sold so much better.

Re: what should i write next?
I also had this game BITD on the ZX Spectrum. I enjoyed it a lot even though it only got average reviews in teh magazines. I remember that the music was awful with Electron like single channel beeps and no effort to jazz it up (as was usually done on the speccy). It had a fair bit of sampled speech ...

Re: Latest version of BeebEm
Its great to see this emulator updated at last. Many thanks to everyone who's contributed to this. I'm still having problems however when I capture a video though...(I'm running this on Windows 10) It appears to capture ok, but when I try and play it I only get sound but no picture. Loading it into ...

Re: High Score Challenge Season 15 - Rd 1 - Elementum
Well, thats it from me.
Level 15 is without a doubt the most evil level in the history of gaming!
I spent ages losing about 25 lives on it, finally getting through with 1 life left (no idea how I did it, couldn't possibly do it again!).
As you can imagine, 1 life didn't get me far on level 16...

Well, I finally managed to crack level 7 by some miracle and then blundered my way through levels 8 to 12 losing a couple of lives here and there until level 13 totally killed me.
Very pleased to get this far though.

Re: New version of PacMan (PuckMan) for the BBC Micro
Just noticed that the ssd. you've posted doesn't run the 'LOADER' file when you shift-break-shift but instead it *RUN's the 'GAME' file. Also discovered that the game works in the BeebEM 4.15 (which I think is a beta version). And finally, neither of the 2 BBC emulators for RISC OS work with it. I'l...

Re: New version of PacMan (PuckMan) for the BBC Micro
Thanks for playing and that looks great. I don't usually go for loading screens as they annoyed me bits with tape loading. Yes, I remember sitting there thinking that the game could have been loaded in the time taken to load that screen (particularly if it was a mode 1 or 2 screen). But then as soo...

Re: New version of PacMan (PuckMan) for the BBC Micro
Added more scoring and some fruit code, although you can't collect it yet. Known bugs! Sometimes a ghost will get stuck in a tunnel. Haven't had that one yet. Pacman leaves some crust behind when he dies or completes a level. Thats happened every time I complete a level so far. There are no/infinit...
