Re: Latest version of BeebEm
I have just released BeebEm 4.16 (for Windows). You can get it from GitHub here or Mike Wyatt's website . Fixed instruction cycle times. The changes to the 6502 emulation mean that all instructions are now emulated, including the differences between the BBC B, Master 128, and 65C02 Co-processor, an...

Re: Acorn - A World in Pixels - new book
I second the packaging. EXCELLENT! The book is a great coffee-table glossy affair. One error is around "Karate Combat". This was a 1986 release, not 1985. I like the extent of including the individual developer credits, where available. An interesting debate is around the Martech game &quo...

Arcol [ raster painting program ]
Hello Archi fans, Did anyone use Arcol, or its successor Arcol Desktop back in the day? I was a fan of its painting interface, despite it only having one level of "undo". It was not as sophisticated as Longman Logotron's Revelation ... but was a big step up from the native !Paint applicati...

best dev environment / tools for early Archimedes machines?
Hi all, If you were to target the early Archimedes machines ( A305 to A5000 ) - what would you recommend for assembly dev tools / environment? ( presume that the goal would be to make a typical 1 MByte pure assembly ( with maybe some BASIC bootstrap ) computer game, that is compatible with RISC OS 2...

missing archived games / Grievous Bodily Arm
Hi all,
Some Archimedes games like Lemmings and Chocks Away seem to be easily available on the web in ADF floppy image format. Others are non-existant such as Grievous Bodily Arm.
Is the reason merely due to imaging from physical floppies never took place?
Thanks.

Re: New emulator: beebjit
Always good to see a new emulator, especially one that makes strides in certain areas. Competition is healthy. :) For reference, on another thread, we previously discussed stand-out games (that typically do "interesting" or challenging technical stuff) for the BBC and Master. Here: https:/...

Re: Starting an archive of HFE protected disc files
Quick question: Obviously HFE/FSD and so forth are more sophisticated formats compared to legacy "convenience" formats like SSD/DSD and so on. Nonetheless... are there tools that transform from HFE to legacy formats? ( Or is such a utility not feasible, given the logic required to automati...

Diskette / Tape image purism
Hi beeb-ers, There has been good efforts by community people here to offer enhanced versions of game disk images, over the recent years. Thanks for that. On another track, is there any definitive reference of "non-enhanced" (i.e. completely vanilla unaltered) disk and tape images? And how ...

Re: High-res pro photos of Acorn machines ?
I did this for a number of Acorn related items and posted the pictures on my Flickr account. The pictures are CC licensed and you can download the original size images; for example here's a BBC Micro: This is definitely along the lines of what would be the photos. :) The background is mostly plain ...

Hello folks, What would be the best approach to simultaneously connect dual 3-button digital joysticks to the BBC Micro? http://www.haku.co.uk/pics/SegaJoypadPinout.jpg Note, that this is mostly theoretical... I'm just interested to know what your approach would be, since the usual approach of havin...

Re: High-res pro photos of Acorn machines ?
I find the photos from http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/det/182/Acorn-BBC-Micro-Model-B/ are probably the best out there, though what they make publicly available are probably reduced in size. Thanks for the link, but not great photos, to be honest. All the criticisms previously mentioned are fea...

Re: High-res pro photos of Acorn machines ?
That would be super to see. Thanks. I think it would be a great resource for the Acorn retro community to have huge semi-professional evenly-lit photographs of our favourite microcomputers.
( Even monitors / peripherals ... but that's a bit of a stretch for a first attempt. )

High-res pro photos of Acorn machines ?
. Question : Are there any excellent studio-quality photos of Acorn microcomputers available on the web? :?: There seems to be an infinite supply of half-arsed photos of BBC Micros / Archimedes / Electrons ... but every one I have seen are low resolution ( i.e. dimensions barely reaching 1000 x 1000...
