Re: Misc BBC/Electron Roms, for checking
Presume it's only DDOS that implements *ROMID, wish other publishers would've implemented something similar, especially Solidisk. Oddly enough it is only in DDOS. No such command in Challenger or SEDFS. Although by March '86 they get sloppy and send out three different ROMs with the same date and r...

Re: Misc BBC/Electron Roms, for checking
It is 3.45, but contains a couple of extra bytes at offset &190 and a NOP at &19D, which then causes all JMP/JSR's to differ by 3 bytes. Haven't investigated any further but am assuming it's a hack, does yours look original? No reason to believe Tom's ROM isn't original: >*ROMID 3.45 01-06-...

EDOSPAT 7.00
Hi all, just a little drive-by post to say I've been working on the long-running patch for the FS that came with my Beeb. I'm pleased to say that the last two oddities of the old code are gone, namely:- Loads and saves are trimmed to length, and loads in particular don't overrun. Player data is now ...

Re: XFER unable to send SSD images
The same error exists in the source code for Xfer 5.3a. I can see it in the /src/ folder, but I can't identify where it lies in crunched version in the /bin/ folders, so no quick fix without recompiling. Am I correct in thinking that Greg Cook ( regregex ) is the current maintainer of 5.3a? Hi ther...

Re: Syntax Error after *RUN
FWIW it may have something to do with a bug in *RUN under CFS/RFS. In BBC OS 1.20 and Electron OS 1.00 after *RUN loads the file it tries to update the OSFILE block with the length of the file, except that *RUN did not set the address (stored at &C8) of the OSFILE block. If !&C8 points into ...

Just letting you know that I've updated Mark de Weger et al. 's Xfer in C file transfer software to version 5.2. http://regregex.bbcmicro.net/#prog.xfer Changes: Enabled the CTS/RTS handshake mode for, you've guessed it, CTS/RTS handshaking serial cables. Re: The Digital Antiquarian
Good find. The BBC Micro article shows up another small set of discrepancies with the Micro Men narrative, most obviously the date of the Proton demonstration, now placed in December 1980 rather than the following July as implied by the footage of the royal wedding -- although a year does seem a lon...

I don't post very often these days, but I notice tomorrow's ShortList magazine has gone all retro gamey. Not wanting to hijack the thread, but the ARM copro takes 20 minutes to render as well, the host is the bottleneck here. The release will run without a copro as well, just with a lower quality background.

Re: OMG! Issue 2 Beeb, Serial #000732 is alive!
On the disc controller side, check the 4 MHz clock (on pin 3 of the header) and the interrupt outputs (pins 8 and 11). The latter may be being held up and perpetually interrupting the startup routine. Also check the pins for tarnish or bending in as the header Opus uses is prone to these. AFAIK the ...

Re: .WAV and .CSW files
I attempted a UEF conversion of Revs, although I don't know if it was successful, as in BeebEm the car won't budge (anti-piracy measure?) and B-Em quits altogether before it can load the protected file. Adding it to the copy protected software list though.

Re: Trivia: What will this program do?
It's an infinite loop. After the second pass the stepping addition in a FOR loop silently overflows to -2147483648, and so the loop never exits, as there's no integer greater than 2147483647.
BASIC's got lots of bugs with the minimum value actually -- least of all integers, indeed.
