Re: hq.uef Specification

I haven't got into this bug much yet. A uef file can be uncompressed by giving it a gz extention and uncompressing with 7zip or something similar. I can look at a uef file with FileRay and my template. It was fee only then free before the company discontinued in 2008. It crashes when scrolling on W...

Re: hq.uef Specification

Sure , here they are in a Zip :- In the log file I have added in () the hex values of what they should be for the before and after. But its any HQ uef created with MakeUEF 2.3 that has dummy bytes in the tone that suffers from this bug. And the csw viewer yes I think that the best pace is to post it...

ooo that sounds great glad to hear these very useful utilities are still being worked on, and to the best of my knowledge acornpreservation.org does not exist anymore in any form, which really is a pity.

Re: Disc Doctor interference

Yes I have noticed that in the past that Disc Doctor causes issues with games I stopped using it or only loaded it into a ram bank when I needed to use it.
so I don't get what all the fuss is about.

Re: Tape CSW files -not working on other sites

I beleave I have found where the problem lies with this its a bug in makeuef 2.3 and HQ UEF files,
see my post viewtopic.php?p=238965#p238958
which means any HQ UEF made with makeuef Ver 2.3 is not 100% accurate.

Here you see (chunk &0111) 11 01 04 00 00 00 B1 48 00 00 BeachHead1.png from the log file created from makeUEF you see the waves before the dummy byte is correct it does calculate the correct waves (&C42F) after the dummy byte but zero is written to the UEF. Carrier tone with standard dummy byte wri...

Re: hq.uef Specification

99% of the UEF's on STH are not HQ UEF's so they don't appear to be affected by this bug.
just looking at one from there it was created with makeuef ver 1.9 and looks okay to me.

Re: hq.uef Specification

I do beleave I have discovered a bug in makeuef (appears to only be in ver 2.3)....... Which has been the cause of a lot of program not working with BeebEm and if trying to play back to a real BBC/Electron. it also only seem to happen when a HQ UEF is generated and not with a non-HQ UEF if you look ...

Re: Upgraded (in 1980-something) BBC Model A keyboard not working

20 Ohms sounds high a track should read 0 Ohms and same for the keys when pressed, but it unusual for all the keys not to work unless there is a problem with one of the chips on the keyboard as they are used to scan which key is pressed, except the break key.

Re: Rom Cart / MMFS / Wiring/ Operation ????

Have you changed the ROM in the plus one ? mine is not the original ROM as i am waiting for the ram cartridge to arrive and it requires this ROM to be able to write to that. The original ROM is a 24 pin chip - ElectronPlus1ROM.png But your subject is MMFS so I guess you must have changed the ROM in ...

Re: Upgraded (in 1980-something) BBC Model A keyboard not working

very often the tracks get broken under the keyboard mostly from pressure being put on the LED's always a good 1st step is to do a visual inspection looking for anything unusual. The keyboard ribbon cables also give problems if they are not handled correctly.

Mine has the Plus 1 support ROM in it and comes up with this :-

Extra line of text from the ROM in the plus one, not sure if you have the original ROM in it or if it has been changed.

Re: BBC B Elite versions

I always though it searches the ROM slots till it find a slot that contains RAM I.E. that it can write to and read from, if I remember well Exile does that as I use to have a watford ROM/RAM board before and had to change the code to get it to recognise the RAM slots on the board. So add that it try...
