Re: BREAK+key to reset language on AP6 ROM?

what about using a switch (across C9) on the POR line :- POR (power on reset): On power up, the RC circuit connected to this input provides a +ve edge to reset parts of the ULA, and to cause the ULA to activate the RST line which resets the processor. I have not tried this on an Electron But I do a ...

Re: HELP: BBC Model B fails to load from SD, tape or disc

Many thanks for the extra details Mark. I'm going to have a look at cleaning the Cumana double disc drive, do you have any useful advice with that? I'm going to swap the cassette deck for another one in the short term as I don't have access to the tools or time to repair this one right now, but I h...

Re: HELP: BBC Model B fails to load from SD, tape or disc

why not try loading from your pc/laptop using uef files using playUEF which will convert uef files to a wav file to then load into the BBC https://www.8bitkick.cc/playuef---bbc-micro.html that will at least eliminate the tape recorder and it works very well for me, only thing to to get the audio out...

Re: HELP: BBC Model B fails to load from SD, tape or disc

so if you can load programs from SD card then the BBC itself must be mostly okay, some games don't work so well from a SD but I think the majority do work without problems. the disc problem could be a number of things, the disc's are damaged the drive is faulty or the heads from the drive are dirty ...

Thought users of the BBC-FDC might be interested in this way to use the unit to facilitate drive-head cleaning. I do this before every disk I read now, and it's improved my success rate (read: number of discs not damaged by flaky crap from the previous one) considerably. https://stardot.org.uk/foru...

Re: Did these games exist, or am I going mad?!

Guys, Two years since I made this post, and after receiving a load of BBC computers/monitors and hundreds of discs, amazingly, the first disc I pulled out was this exact game. So a question - I would like this to be available to all. Is there any facility for getting these games onto the internet -...

oops my bad I had not specified the -ss switch for single sided capture and an .fsd image of Doctor who now worked using that.
looking forward to it supporting hfe v3 format as that can be put directly onto a gotek to use, and see several requests on gethub for it as well.

Re: BBC-FDC floppy controller for Raspberry Pi

.rfi is Picosonic's proprietary format for his own use and testing, so I'm not surprised nothing else will read it. The other two formats .fds and .scp I believe are a work in progress- Picosonic put some stuff on his github about this recently - https://github.com/picosonic/bbc-fdc I've only ever ...

A very clean looking and boxed A3000 with monitor. Collection only "way down south" https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333723401634 Note that the listing does say it's been stored in a garage, and that there's damp damage to the box, so be a little careful! Re: BBC-FDC floppy controller for Raspberry Pi

.rfi flux format is not much good HxCFloppyEmulator cant read it to convert it to any usable format. .fds files are unreadable by HxCFloppyEmulator or by beebjit so seems its a non standard .fds format. giving .scp a go see how that works, trying to open a .scp file in HxCFloppyEmulator is just sits...

Normally you can just push them back on and they work fine no need to glue it, I guess that's what happens sometimes if you use a chip puller, which is why I prefer to leaver them gently out of the socket.

Surprisingly, the tape is just fine, despite being 38 years old. A bit of hiss and warble but nothing a real beeb cares about. Ironically, the issue was with modern tech. I have a modern cassette player that writes mp3s of the cassette to a USB stick. For some reason, it was dropping fragments of s...

BNIB pack of ten 16 hard sector 5.25" floppies. Listed as "BBC compatible" but actually 16 hard sector discs. I messaged the seller to suggest they change the title - but if you're after some hard sector floppies you might want to watch this one. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Box-of-10-Factory-Sealed-...
