Re: RiscPC virq/sirq issues
Hi Ian, There was very little crud visible at all, no visible green junk! The battery had a bit of fluff on it, which seemed to be mostly dust from the PSU. The symptoms were the same before a deeper clean. A pic from before the bath, but after I'd snipped the battery off. https://i.postimg.cc/pV1Xv...

RiscPC virq/sirq issues
Hi. Got a RPC 600 off fleabay. It's fitted with Arm610, 3.5 ROM's, FDD, HDD and Cumana CD-ROM. For testing I'm just connecting the floppy alone. I've tried with one stick or the other of RAM and with and without VRAM installed, symptons always the same. Battery area does not look bad at all after a ...

You can see a video of an AKF11 power switch here

Re: Got an A310 + AKF11 - possible repairs and upgrades
It annoys me that they're designed for spade connectors but are soldered on anyway. Bah. Here they are at Donberg . There is a minimum order value though - I guess you could always buy a load and sell any spares on eBay. Well, the part on the website is this: Orig.PNG But Donberg have come back quo...

Re: Got an A310 + AKF11 - possible repairs and upgrades
The AKF11 power switch issue is *very* common on these CM8833 type monitors. You see a lot of them with paperclips holding in the power button! Donberg had replacement switches last time I needed to buy some. I can dig out the part number if you want. Fitting them isn't hard but you do need to be a...

Archimedes Keyboard
Interested in any Archimedes keyboard people may wish to sell - hoping to avoid CJE and Ebay prices!
I have a 310 and a 5000 and a half working 310 keyboard, so while it may be repairable I'd like another one in the mean time.
Thanks
Mike

Brilliant. Typical that I snag a rare and broken one  Well, you did get it for basically nothing. A total steal =D> Have you determined which part of the key mech is failed? I'd assume those rubber cups can be sourced. I'd love to see some more photos of the motherboard, which would presumab...

I disassembled the keyboard but had no luck. From what people said I was expecting to find "foam and foil" type switches like these: https://texelec.com/product/foam-capacitive-pads-keytronic/ but they're not. Instead each key has a rubber membrane underneath which has a little capacitive...

Serial / RS232 on Master Compact
I would like to get my Master Compact online, for telnet/BBS. I'd also be interested in serial transfer from a PC. UPURS is out of the question as it's a User Port serial interface, not RS232. I have several questions that I'm really unsure about. 1) I would need a cable. The Master Compact has the ...

Re: Got an A310 + AKF11 - possible repairs and upgrades
For the keyboard; it still has has the function key holder: don’t try to remove it (to clean). The plastic is brittle, It will most likely break. For the keyboard keys, apart from the dirt the pads on the keyboard PCB can get tarnished. Some silver or copper polish cleans them up nicely. Be careful...

Re: Got an A310 + AKF11 - possible repairs and upgrades
Memroy upgrade on an A310 can be a fiddle, for sure. Backplane, RISC OS 3, ARM3 are all pretty trivial. You're spot-on there. A 4MB A400 would have been a better buy, honestly. Or an A5000, for its ARM3. These are easy to fix. Remove 3-gazillion screws, and you get access to the pads. I've cleaned ...

Got an A310 + AKF11 - possible repairs and upgrades
Hi all I picked up a completely stock A310 along with an AKF11 monitor this week. The AKF11 is fantastic, brilliant picture and sound. The power switch is being a bit reluctant to always work. Bit worried it's going to stick in the "off" position, so may leave it switched "on" fo...

Re: Worth Taking a Look At
No, when a best offer is accepted the price isn't shown in the completed listing except to the buyer and seller. I don't mind saying I offered £100 and it was accepted. The monitors working 100%, so even if the A310 is dead as described I'm not too bothered as it's a nice Akf11 with SCART and RGB. ...

Monitor cable (AKF50 to BBC Master Compact)
I know these monitors aren't usually paired with a Beeb but I have the monitor and the Beeb so I may as well try! Does anyone have anything suitable or is able to build one? It would need to be 15-pin Dsub (Female) to 6-pin DIN (male). The AKF50 cable is permanently attached. My understanding is the...

I have Exile boxed for the Compact if you are interested, however I am not convinced the disk is fine. It boots but I failed to image it properly using Omniflop/Omnidisk, but this could also have been an issue with my PC setup. Has the manual and novella, with some writing in from previous owner. D...

Hi everyone. I have a Master Compact and an SD2BBC from thefuturewas8bit which connects via the joystick port (which has some user port signals on the Compact, I believe?). It came with a Smart SPI ROM, but I'm looking to try MMFS out. Am I right in thinking the "T" release -> MAMMFS would...

Re: Gotek Bracket for Master Compact (3d printed?)
Yes, that's no problem, just use *DISC for DFS and *ADFS for ADFS. You can even configure which one the machine boots up in as a default. Having a single drive is the best option for you I think. Do you still want a dual drive cable anyway though? This thread includes some photos of inside the mach...

Re: Gotek Bracket for Master Compact (3d printed?)
The cable is non-standard and has to be made up by hand. However, I think I have a spare one which I'd be happy to send you. Similarly, if I have a spare EPROM I could make you a DFS rom. There are also other members on here who could do it. The pitfalls with the dual-drive setup are: 1) The fascia...
