Re: A5000 First Timer - Window Sizes

I'd say that probably is Mode 27 already, at 640x480 pixels and I'd guess 16 colours. For a larger working area you'll need Mode 31. RiscOS 2 doesn't have access to VGA/SVGA screen modes and would probably use modes 12 or 15, 640x256 (rectangular) pixels with 16 or 256 colours - this would give a sl...

Re: Technodream on emulation

Aaron replied a few days ago after my email ended up in his spam folder. He's not in a position to help at the moment as he gets lots of queries looking for support, but it sounds like he doesn't have a stock of these CDs available anyway. He is still hoping to make "all the APDL software available ...

Thank you again - I've popped him a message at the address on that page, I'll post again with any updates.

Re: Technodream on emulation

I tried "sales" at the old and current apdl domains with no response, a previously active apdl-proaction domain no longer exists either. CJE don't have it available. Really appreciate all the suggestions, thank you.

Re: Technodream on emulation

Not quite that keen for something that was £6 originally  Thanks for letting me know though. I'm pretty sure that seller just puts it on repeatedly, every time I do another search for something I've missed I see it on there for the same price with a few days to run but still no takers... Next t...

Re: Technodream on emulation

Thanks for the extra info - I'll maybe try and track him down, but it's looking like I've just left it all a bit too late on all counts :(

Re: Technodream on emulation

Thanks for the PM, sorry but still can't reply directly. Thanks for clearing up the situation, I think I must have misunderstood things (gleaned from various sources across this board and elsewhere).

Wanted: Nevryon/Technodream CD version

Does anyone have the CD version of Nevryon/Technodream that they no longer use? This is for use on an emulator so floppies with copy protection aren't an option. Thanks.

Re: Arculator & Risc OS 2.0

I've configured an RO2 A310 with a hard disk image (I think based on a blank template I found online then populated on an A5000 Arculator machine). I'm using the RISC Developments IDE Controller as Podule 1. You then configure the podule to add the drive image (leaving the hard drive tab itself blan...

Technodream on emulation

Hi, I'm keen to have another go through Technodream after 20+ years. Unfortunately I don't have any working Acorn hardware to use/extract my original disks and the copy protection is defeating me in emulation. I've seen that an updated version has been available on CD with Nevryon from Matthew Thomp...

Re: The Savestate thread!

Apparently not... I ended up with two double-counted tiles, so had 515 points with three tiles to collect. I picked up a tile, and the game immediately went to a completed state but still without incrementing the score, leaving me with the "Not bad 515 points" message again. I've attached two states...

Re: The Savestate thread!

Thanks to billcarr2005 I've been able to add the last tile to my run and have an updated set of save states. Still getting the same issue at the end where the score doesn't increment with the final tile so I can't get above 515. I'll have to try yet again to see if I can repeat the double counting b...

Re: Inertia Map

Well *#%$. That would explain it - I obviously missed the little ding when I found that screen initially and took the snapshot, and the only way to see that a tile is there is to fling yourself vertically/horizontally off one of the adjacant screens. When doing a full run I hadn't bothered to go bac...

Re: Inertia Map

Had a PM (can't reply sorry, still too new apparently...) asking for a full resolution map - apologies, hadn't noticed it had been shrunk. I've attached a ZIP with the PNG map, a GIMP format map used for the stitching (includes grid overlays to look for missed edges), the save states I previously po...

Re: The Savestate thread!

Thanks - still has the same little graphical corruption, so probably not that. However, I caught the score double-counting on some tiles (so 10 points rather than 5), and it turns out there's two tiles I was missing on my original run - the double-counting made me think I had found them all. I've at...

Re: Inertia Map

OK, slightly embarrassing, but I missed a bit and I think there's another screen somewhere that I haven't been able to find. Updated version is below, the extra screen (blue) is a little above and left of centre. There's definitely a little buglet somewhere that means tiles can be double-counted for...

Re: The Savestate thread!

Resurrecting an old (if pinned) thread - an Inertia save state for the very end of the game, no lives lost (no cheats, but liberal use of save state). Note that controls are reversed at this point, so you need to press Z to collect the final tile. However... there's some odd behaviour which I'm hesi...

I bet that was fun to stitch together! :)
More fun than trying to get through some of the especially tricky sections anyway

(Especially as I didn't realise there was a "brake" key until I'd almost finished...)

Inertia Map

In case it's of interest to anyone, I put together a complete map of all the screens in BBC Inertia. Was certainly interesting to find all the sections I got nowehere near finding 30 years ago (save state was definitely a help for some parts :D). EDIT: This one is incomplete, a replacement is attach...

Hello from Bedfordshire

Hi, Started out with a BBC Master at home, then spent most of the 90s with an A5000 and an A4 (both now badly damaged by leaky CMOS battery). Primary school was a shared BBC of some form, later school was well stocked with A310s and A3000s, then later RPCs (mostly 600s I think). I've been taking adv...
