Re: Hosting BBS on Beeb

Ahhh thanks, that would explain a few things. I tried the options to ring on connection and various other settings (I probably should have made a note of all the different configurations I tried, but I was getting a bit frazzelled by the end! ). Seems like its just a pipe dream for now...maybe...

Hosting BBS on Beeb

Hi, I'm trying to host an instance of EBBS (from the files on this forum) on my Beeb, that people can connect to using TcpSer (either on a real Beeb or using BeebEm). I'm hoping to call it BeeBS. On the host am currently using the follow settings in TcpSer (the l is just for logging): tcpser -d /dev...

=D> =D> That's great, thank you so much for finding it. All the references I've found about it have it listed as public domain, but I'd had no luck finding it in any of the places it was once uploaded.

VHost BBS software

Hey, I was wondering if anyone had a copy of the VHost software for the beeb. It was also ported to arc so I've posted it here too: https://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=23089 (hope that's ok). I'm note sure if it's in the public domain, but I can't seem to find it online. Any help ...

!VHost BBS Software available?

Hey everyone, Does anyone know if !VHost is in the public domain? There's a bit of information about it here ( http://www.bbsdocumentary.com/software/expanded.html ). It can be used to host a BBS and supports Videotex/Videotext/Viewdata (...I think). It was used to host ccl4....(again, I think?!). T...

Are you using SCSI (e.g. BeebSCSI) or IDE (e.g. DataCentre)?
Hey Hoglet,

Sorry for delay, I packed the beeb away a while ago whilst sorting the office. I am using an external datacentre. Does that mean that PCCE won't work for me at all?

Thanks for the update! :D

Re: Master w/co-pro running MSDOS 3.2

It also works fine in b-em: Oooh that's cool, I'll play with it that way, I struggled to get beebem to open the floppy image when I tried before, with the copro on and DosPlus loaded up dir would just produce a string of 0s. Do I need to do anything special with the floppy image beforehand? Thanks ...

Ah thanks Dave you're a legend =D> =D> =D> . So it appears it is my floppy drive just not wanting to work  . Re: Master w/co-pro running MSDOS 3.2

I don't think this is the cause of your issues, but not sure what you mean? Hi, no worries I resolved this error by bypassing the floppy drive and just writing the file to the hard drive instead (as I believe my floppy drive was corrupting the data as it was writing to the floppy). The issue was af...

Hi to test if it will boot in to MS Dos from Dos Plus you'll need a copy of the Tandon OEM MSDos 3.2 which I've attached.

Hi Dave, Here's the Drive_C image, EdBin seems to have worked this time, but still hangs / Invalid Opcode Errors. I'm pretty sure that this is just down to my disk drives not working well enough for it to be able to read the files on the disk it needs to boot MS DOS. https://drive.google.com/file/d/...

A better option would be a Raspberry PI4 on the 1MHz bus using https://github.com/rsta2/circle and wired ethernet.
Hi fordp thanks for the information I'd not heard of this project before however my external datacentre is connected via the 1mhz bus.
